WHARFRAT Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 Couldn't get down until late last night, went on our docks at dark, I caught one real nice one. Wife caught about a half dozen keepers. Fish were 3-4' down in 15 fow. Went out at 7 this morning, didn't catch a whole lot, but most were pushing 12". So they were really nice. Came in about 11, wifey was on the dock and tearin them up. Same pattern as the night before. Slabbusters, with a nib straight down, she was getting the bite about 4' down. @lozcrappie
fishinwrench Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 There's a bunch in the backends of the bigger coves around here, super-shallow and relating to anything wooden. Little twigs seem to produce better than big laydowns. None are very big though, just keepers. They are chowing on those big midges that are hatching now.
Old plug Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Well around us wrench there is more darn crapppie that white bass it appears. They sure a lot better size as well.
Greasy B Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 They are chowing on those big midges that are hatching now. Crappie on soft hackles? His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974
fishinwrench Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Crappie on soft hackles? They'd prolly take a SH. I caught them on Clousers. OP, my whites have either vanished or aren't feeding when I am out. They'll be back.
WHARFRAT Posted October 14, 2013 Author Posted October 14, 2013 I did talk to a couple that were catching a lot of whites. They didn't give up too much information, but it appeared that they were pulling small crankbaits. They did say the whites were running very small. When they left our docks, they headed in the direction of Ha Ha Tonka. I saw a lot of shad, but nothing seemed to be chasing them. A few disturbances here and there, but nothing like in past weeks. I like catching, but don't like eatin them @lozcrappie
