joeD Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 We laugh at our own peril. Our government counts on our apathy. That is why our lives will not be our own in the future. We will be bought and sold in the marketplace. Freedom of choice will be non-existent. And we stand by and let it happen. Don't believe me? Google. It's already happening.
SmallyWally Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 The American people......We are just ONE BIG PATSY !!!!!!!! DC is tearing this country down bit by bit and the majority of folks have no clue, which plays out well for the evil doers in the District of Criminals. A book on edible plants will be good to have on hand, when we have to learn to live off the land again, like our forefathers did. ness Posted October 18, 2013 Author Posted October 18, 2013 I hear you on that, Al. What's the use? It's fall -- easily my favorite time of the year. Only problem is it's too short and there's too much good stuff to do. Gonna try to get my butt out to a hunting preserve this weekend and get my dog warmed up for the season. Next weekend is an annual family get-together at Roaring River, which I love doing, but I always sneak away a couple days early and fish elsewhere first. MO bird season is right around the corner, then KS. And football -- which is actually fun to watch this year... John
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 18, 2013 Root Admin Posted October 18, 2013 I thought this thread might get messy... fun at first then turn political. I guess I should lock it before it gets out of hand? Are we done with the "list"?
Riverwhy Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Thanks Phil. I'm overt 50 so I really could use a lawn chair. I know it's heavy but a cast iron dutch oven makes all food taste better. The last item I suppose would be a soccer ball so that I could make my own "Mr. Wilson" to talk to on those long winter nights.

rainbow Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I thought this thread might get messy... fun at first then turn political. I guess I should lock it before it gets out of hand? Are we done with the "list"? Phil, why not set up an opt in political forum. No political holds barred but if you have to opt in then enter at your own choosing or not. Missouri Whitetails has one and its some pretty good discussion but you don't have to tune in if you aren't opted in. What's anyone else think?
Al Agnew Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 The problem with no holds barred political forums is that sooner or later it gets so nasty that people who would otherwise be friends become mortal cyber-enemies. I really like things as they are. Most of us show restraint, whether it's because showing restraint is a good thing to do or because there is the threat from Phil that a topic will be shut down if it gets too nasty and most of us don't want to give Phil the headache, if nothing else. I am active on the anything goes board on paddling.net, and it has mostly devolved into most of the threads being two or three people on one side continually attacking two or three people on the other side with little of real interest being discussed, and even if a thread starts out interesting, those same people turn it into an attack fest. Although...if there was one board on here where anything goes, it might not be as much of a headache for Phil...
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 18, 2013 Root Admin Posted October 18, 2013 I actually have another IPB forum license... I could create a completely different forum, set it up and never look at it (I wouldn't anyhow). I'll think about it.
