drew03cmc- FYI while I was at BSP this past weekend, along with catching a tone of fish, I also caught a nice smally under the bridge on a streamer. He sure fought different. I actually thought I had another brown on until I noticed that "red" eye glaring at me!

Zone 3 at Bennett Spring fills up with smallies in the winter. You'll see the most in the Suzy Hole. I've had several 20+ days in zone 3. If there is any high water during the winter (there has been), then the smallies make it all the way up to the dam. From October thru March you will find many smallmouths in the Niangua near the spring branch. Try a heavily weighted mohair leech or wooly. The fly has to touch the bottom before they want to pick it up.

Wow. Big Buffalo Creek? I am going to have to look that one up. Try it out, and if nothing else, make my way down to Bennett or Roaring River. I appreciate all the help guys!

I've actually heard of the little blue in KC and indian creek both having some smallmouth in them.

Chuck Tryon wrote a book called 200 Missouri Smallmouth Streams. But most of the streams are right where you'd expect them to be--south and east in Missouri.

If you find one close to K.C. I'd like to know.

Hsa anyone tried to read Tryon's directions/descriptions?

Tryon is pretty easy to read.  You can tell whether the place is worthwhile or not by his PC descriptions.   Never used his directions to find anything, just use the maps....and they are good.
