stlfisher Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Hope they find a middle ground. Physical play was getting out of hand, but it is hard to watch like this. RCJH! RCJH - man Justin you seemed like good guy. Now I am not so sure? just teasing....
ozark trout fisher Posted November 13, 2013 Author Posted November 13, 2013 Yeah Clarkson looked great. Rest of team looked like poo. They may struggle to make the tourney if they can't find a big man to help out. Tony Criswell is supposed to be our best big man and he's out. Not sure how long, but we need him back in a big way. Our backcourt is fantastic, but right now the frontcourt isn't going to get the job done. Ryan Rosburg is a solid defender and rebounder, but he appears to still struggle to get a whole lot going offensively. JWIII looks like he is going to be a good player sooner rather than later. Don't know about the tournament right now. Need to see how we look with Criswell, assuming he'll be back somewhat soon. Could be a bubble team.
ruthead Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Saw faint glimmers with the bigs but I think JB, Clarkson, and Ross r gonna be the offense. Defense was not impressive at all tonight. Not movin their feet. Clark can play but his handcheckin is gonna have to stop or he'll b spectatin a lot. Maybe JIII will give us some good minutes with maturity. Really Hate to say this but flipped to the KU game and they're on a whole nother level. I hate that!! "Pretty soon we may not have any rights left because it might infringe on someone's rights"

I have given up on Haith teams playing defense. I don't even notice it anymore. We just better have a great offense. We have the past two years. We may again this season, but if so, it'd be a four guard lineup like 2011-12. If Criswell comes back soon he can score down low and fill a similar roll to Ricardo Ratliffe that year. And yes, we are still comparing everything to 2011-12 in the third year. Not good, but it's still early in the season.
Al Agnew Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 I agree on the Haith teams' defense. Year before last, that team was too small and not deep enough to play great defense, but were quick enough and still had enough of the Anderson hack and chop and double team mentality to get some turnovers. Last year, even Pressey didn't try to use his quickness to get steals, and the rest of them were mediocre at best. This year they look just as bad. Good defense is mostly a matter of "want to". You can play good defense if you are willing to play HARD on defense. These guys look like they are just waiting to get the ball back so they can score.

Not proud of it, but when you grow up in Kansas all you have is Gorilla football and Jayhawk basketball, really surprised the hawks beat Duke, never have liked freshman heavy teams, but their freshmen looked legit, and Wiggins was the third best Jayhawk freshman in that game.
