fishinwrench Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 How do you fish a wooly worm? A WW is one of those "can't fish it wrong" patterns. Dead drift it, sight fish it, swing it, dangle it in the current, strip it fast, strip it slow, fish it dry, or let it slow fall on a tight line around a brushpile...... if there's fish around chances are something will take a swat at it.
Gavin Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Dead drift...or strip it like a crackleback. Most tie a bugger wrong...Some tips. Measure your marabou and tie it in instead of pinching the tail. Fold your hackle. Tie your hackle in at the front and wind back. Wrap wire over your hackle to tie it in...back to front.
Wayne SW/MO Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I agree with Wrench when it comes to fishing one, anything goes. For gills starting on top, pulling under and then to a piece of shot allows you to search for them. For gills I think a contrast or legs is a big help, with contrasting legs the killer. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Geoff Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Olive tail, green crystal flash, grizzly hackle, olive body, orange thread. best combo I've had yet. "When you do things right, people wont be sure you've done anything at all."
