abkeenan Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 My dermatologist tells me that if the problem persists it is not entiely due to dry skin but a vitamin difficency or an auto immune disorder that is inherited. In my case it was both I highly doubt it is a vitamin deficiency as I am 32 years old, eat well, take a multivitamin everyday and remain healthy and active. It is also the only spot on my body this happens.
Pepe Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Wow, your report is like winning the Trifecta. Thanks Champ. 1.) Great Report on a new lake to try 2.) Great homemade Christmas gift idea 3.) Another reason to wear sun glove (I ordered some based on Donna's report) Would you mind letting us know who your guide buddy is? I would like to who to look up when I get down that way.

abkeenan Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Might be that auto immune issue. You are right. My thumb has AIDS.

I strongly suggest that you contact Bryce Archey of Broken Bow Lake Guide Service. He is the only full-time guide on the lake and is very, very good. He's on the level of Babler, Beck, Stone or House on Table Rock, and I don't hand out those kind of ratings often. You can look him up online at: www.brokenbowlakeguide.com Tell him James sent you. He'll charge you double.
Donna G Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Will have to try this. Thanks for the tip Champ. I've tried just the Neosporin, too, and many multitudes of creams, ointments and lotions. Something about the combination in this homemade lotion has worked the best for us. You have the antibiotic cream, plus petroleum jelly which forms a protective barrier. It's why moms use it on baby butts. The baby lotion is emollient and the vitamin E cream is healing. A couple of tips I've learned from trial and error - store brand on all the ingredients works just fine. I prefer Equate baby lotion rather than Baby Magic. I don't like the smell of Baby Magic, plus it's white. We can't call it "Pink Stuff" if it's not pink. lol This recipe is also good for cracked feet, rough elbows, friction rash and dry and / or cracked lips. Obviously not something you put on and go fishing or golfing. We slather it on heavy before we go to bed. Gonna need it tonight after nearly nine hours on the rock. Cold and windy. Hands look like mincemeat. Caught them pretty good for post cold front, though. Donna G Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Thanks for the update, looks like you folks got into some great fishing. Exploding tube of superglue - It was pretty dang funny at the time - until he ripped his thumbprint off. Champ was repairing the thermos cup. He forgot to mention a little dab ended up on the Ranger.
