I'm looking forward to the Auburn/Bama game. I think Bama will prevail, but things get interesting if Auburn wins. Lets say Auburn wins, and Mizzou wins out the year. Would we then have a scenario where the SEC does not have a team playing for the NC? We end up with FSU vs OSU?

Of course, winning out will be tough. A&M will likely be very upset about this weekend and I think they'll play hard. I don't think an Aggie victory would be too surprising.

That is one possibility, but then there is Mizzou simply being the better team and winning, or A&M will be too high and beat themselves. Lots of real possibilities and that will make it a game to watch.

I don't see Auburn sneaking up on Bama because it is such a big rivalry. Bama will want to own them and any other scenario such as overlooking them won't exist in my opinion.

Bama never overlooks or underestimates any team, not so long as the head coach is there he just doesn't do it. A&M on the other hand may well underestimate Mizz and that could be the difference, Johnny will want to make it his Swan Song though as will several others so Mizz D-line better be up to task. It will IMO be the better of the two games to watch.

for some reason I can't use the quote tab (might be my computer), but Missouri is going to schedule non conference games like other SEC teams throughout the year (as opposed to the first four games) starting in 2015 I believe. Non conference games are scheduled years in advance so Mizzou couldn't break those contracts.

I actually like the way our schedule set up this year......get confident with early games against manageable opponents and allow yourself to build up to the bigger tests.

Or you can end up like Arkansas, beat 3 cupcakes to start the year, then get your azz handed to you the remaining games when you play quality (or even other SEC bottom feeders) teams. For what it's worth, I'm a believer in playing one cupcake game to start the year, but trying to get one or two quality opponents before diving into the SEC schedule.

I think if they would give every FBS team a bye for the record on a first game with an FCS team it would be good for both programs. The FCS could play without starting with a loss and the FBS team could play loose and experiment with players under better conditions then a scrimmage.

I still believe that once the season starts a team is better off without a letup in intensity.

They say this is one of the reasons why Alabama has won the last two FBS championships:

All of the perennial teams have some kind of conditioning coach. OK has lady who watches hydration during games.

It really boils down to coaches when it comes to the perennial ranked teams. There isn't a team that is consistently ranked that doesn't have a coach who could go somewhere else and shine and that isn't the heart of it.

You can look at teams like Bama, So Cal, OK, ND, etc that struggle the minute a coach leaves and it then takes some time and coaches before they hit on the right one again.

They fluctuate according to quality of recruits, but overall they win. It's coaches, coaches, coaches.

F&F, Bama isn't immune, case in point their loss to LSU.
