BilletHead Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Going to try Scott, Someone shot up my other roost but we got one hunt out of the fields those birds were using before it happened. Here is hoping this new roost is a bit more protected. The Mrs. and I watched them leave the new roost, we followed them. Doing our homework like BirdWatcher advised me to "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" watermen Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Good loooking roost, If you only hunt the field in the morning they should keep returning. Depends on how cold it stays and if they are feeding once or twice a day. The best situation is the field being downwind on the day you hunt. Shots don't carry far to the roost in a stiff breeze. They will feed more staggered on a warm morning as welll and leave the roost earlier. Good shooting
moodyfour Posted December 29, 2013 Author Posted December 29, 2013 First two days of hunting in Arkansas were a success, then today we tried a new spot and got skunked! Overall a great trip. First day we had a four man limit with nothing but green heads! Almost too much water at this time! Hope to go back, but that will depend on work!
Kayser Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 A friend and I got our first Canadas last week. I've called a lot of them before, watched a lot of them, but never was on the right side of the blind when it came time to shoot. But not this time. Speaking of which- any good recipes that don't involve jalapeños? WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.

duckydoty Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 I like poppers, which involve jalapeños…..sorry. Goose fried steak Slice breast at a biased cut. 18 thin slices per breast. Marinate overnight in 1 can mountain dew, 1/2 cup worcestershire sauce, and 1/2 cup soy sauce. Pound slices out with meat hammer, lightly roll in flour and flash fry in skillet with oil or butter. Goose jerky same slicing and marinade. Put in smoker for 2 hours after marinating then finish in dehydrator. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at..
