Members ifishmo2 Posted January 1, 2014 Members Posted January 1, 2014 I've been reading some of forums for several months, but this is my first post. I live in the St. Louis metro area and love to fish when I can. I purchased my first boat in August and have really enjoyed it. Fished Pomme in September but have mainly been fishing some Southern Illinois lakes since they are closer. My favorite lake is Table Rock so I can't wait to get down there. I grew up visiting my grandparents who lived on Beaver Lake in Cedar Creek but haven't been back in 15 years. I used to fish in club tournaments as a non-boater in Arizona when I lived there, but have only fished one since moving back here in 2006. Thanks for everyone who is willing to share their knowledge and experiences. Ed
Members raise the motor Posted January 1, 2014 Members Posted January 1, 2014 Welcome to the forum. What lakes in So. IL do you fish? I live in Carbondale, IL but don't have an IL license. All our fishing now is done on Bull Shoarls in Arkansas, plus some fishing on the White River. I hope you get to use your new boat in the Ozarks soon. Members ifishmo2 Posted January 1, 2014 Author Members Posted January 1, 2014 Thanks Joe, I have fished Rend, Kinkaid, and Lake of Egypt. I've enjoyed them all but they aren't quite like the Ozark lakes.
Members raise the motor Posted January 1, 2014 Members Posted January 1, 2014 Kinkaid is a beautiful lake. Have been crappie fishing there a couple of times and also at Lake of Egypt. I understand they have Walleye in Kinkaid, but don't know if many are caught there. Almost all of our fishing on Bull Shoals is for Walleye. Jerry Rapp Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 check out Pyramid State park, about 30 miles east of Chester. Catching is pretty easy. And pretty big fish. There are maybe 20 to 30 strip pits you can fish for fun.
Members HeWhoFishesSolo Posted November 12, 2014 Members Posted November 12, 2014 +1 on Pyramid, fish the newer portions of the park, i believe they refer to them as the Arch Coal? additions. Avoid the older original portion of the park, its just ehh, OK. Many many lakes to fish, you can find just about any water your looking for, and move from lake to lake easily.
moguy1973 Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Kincaid has smallies now too -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Members HeWhoFishesSolo Posted November 12, 2014 Members Posted November 12, 2014 Thats what i had heard, and good size too. Catch them with regularity there/ is it common to catch them yet,~ or still a big deal when you hook up with one?
moguy1973 Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 I'm pretty sure the population is still in the growing stage. Last I heard there were some keepers being caught. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
