Micheal Kyle Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 With the weather today I decided to close the office a little early and go get my brother. We hit the river up by our farm some open water and ducks a plenty did not start till 3:30 temp was -2 and wind chill was -23. Thought we might see some mallards but one saw one drake all afternoon, but we ended up with a diver day. 3 ring necks 1 woody 2 gadwall 1 mallard and 2 Canada's. Not bad for a quick hunt I guess all the mallards must be on big water or down on Taney next to someone's house;) To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!

Micheal Kyle Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 Thanks just getting lucky, but I will say I decided to hunt smaller water more, early in the season. This came because talking to a few of my buddies that guide in the Dakotas were telling me the smaller water was working better this year. To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
jdmidwest Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I wonder if the state will reimburse me to move to the other side? You guys certainly seem to have better hunting over that way. The Mississippi flyway has really sucked over here the last 2 years. It has been some of the worst hunting I have seen in over 20 years. Nothing seems to hold the birds, they just fly thru. Micheal Kyle Posted January 8, 2014 Author Posted January 8, 2014 They might just ask I mean you have a 50/50 chance are those odds available in Vegas:) Hunting has been good however either has been spotty one day hear next day there. I have been more mobile this year than any in the last . To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
Feathers and Fins Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 If they would open the season for South MO and NW Arkansas 3 weeks earlier it would make a major difference in people putting birds on the table. I have videos and pictures from many years now that show we have many birds on the WRC of lakes in October, This year I video'ed one such day where there was tens of thousands of birds on Beaver very large numbers of Cans and Redheads with many other species mixed in. I went to the Rock the next day and saw the exact same thing. I know it will never happen but If the DNR's really cared about the hunters they would make a special zone for the WRC of lakes Open it 3rd weekend of October run it to Thanksgiving then do a 2 week split and re-open to the end of 60 days. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
