Bird Watcher Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Didn't know they had bigheads or silvers in Grand??? I hope not. Especially the silvers. I've seen 3 pictures of Bighead. Have not seen a picture or heard a report of Silvers.
Feathers and Fins Posted January 8, 2014 Author Posted January 8, 2014 If they get Silvers in there I will be forced to go over there with my bow well that and watch the Bikini fleet get tagged by a few of them. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
bferg Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Surprised there are not more invasive species regulations here. In CO they started seeing Zebra Mussels in a couple of reserviors and regulations got crazy. Your boat/trailer had to be inspected and washed down on the ramp before launching at the lakes they were concerned about. If you launched in those lakes they would put a plastic tab on your boat/trailer connection that broke when you luanched it. If you came back with the tab still in they knew you had not launched anywhere else and you could launch right away. If you didn't have the tab you went for inspection and washing. The regulations were well intended but obviously were a pain and there are 1,000 other ways for invasive species such as ZMs to enter a lake. If this is about carp and not ZM then it probably does make more sense...but I am no biologist.
moguy1973 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 OMG !!! I called a friend with OK and he said it was to prevent the possible transportation of CARP! Bighead and Silver Carp. They don't want them transported to other waters! I was going to say this was the reason. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Members pomm muskie Posted January 8, 2014 Members Posted January 8, 2014 For what this is worth. Some of the bait shops around Truman lake Missouri cant get any cut shad from their normal suppliers to the south because of new regulations on taking shad out of lakes and using for commercial use....
Feathers and Fins Posted January 8, 2014 Author Posted January 8, 2014 I can understand the live issue but dead bait shouldn't pass on the carp from one lake to another it just don't make since dead stuff don't breed or live https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Flysmallie Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 it just don't make since dead stuff don't breed or live What about zombies?
Feathers and Fins Posted January 8, 2014 Author Posted January 8, 2014 Zombies are technically dead and they don't breed. Though in my 20's I was a Zombie many times and tried breeding but that had to do with the Sunset Strip and a lot of things I cant mention on a family friendly board. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Quillback Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Zombie silver carp - I see movie possibilities..
