96 CHAMP Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 that is correct, i still have a couple but wish i could get my hands on some, all good things eventually come to an end it seems, there are allways something to replace with usually
LarrySTL Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Google says http://www.merchantcircle.com/business/Hawg.Jaw.Tackle.And.Supply.Care.Fair.417-538-2941 And HawgJaw apparently has a FaceBook page so they might still be around. Donnie Williams had at least one son who was very much into both bass fishing and the lure making, but I cant remember his name. The son would be maybe 45 or 50-ish now/ http://intervenehere.com
dtrs5kprs Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 If that is the same Hawg Jaw as the white spoon, Mark used to carry them at Table Rock Tackle, and seems like Rich might have also at Ozarks.

dtrs5kprs Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 re: Why do all spinning baits hve a open wire, they used to be closed, Prevents wrap around and line break offs. Of course then the arm is more likely to break and leave you without a fish at a bad time. Basically a trade off. Up north and on the Mississippi we used closed eye baits because of pike and dogfish. Since moving from Iowa I make most of mine with R bends. Still need to re-tie with either.
abkeenan Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Save yourself the headache of searching for that same spinner bait and just get this War Eagle model:
dtrs5kprs Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Or build one, especially if you just want a few in basic night black. You'd need a 1/2oz or 3/4oz head, poured on a 0.040 minimum frame to handle the big wheel. Probably less than $30 from LPO. Those War Eagles are nice, but the light wire can be a pain for that night deal.
96 CHAMP Posted January 15, 2014 Author Posted January 15, 2014 who is LPO if you don't mind me asking
dtrs5kprs Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 who is LPO if you don't mind me asking Lure Parts Online, formerly Stamina Inc. http://lurepartsonline.com/Shop-By-Category/ Or Jann's: http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/spinnerbait-heads/325411.aspx
Billfo Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Ok, NOW I have to ask.. When would you throw a BLACK spinerbait on table rock ? I use to have some "black short arm" spinerbaits that were awesome.. except midwest Northern pikes loved them.. Never found another short arm model.. Still have a few of the standad black Midnight specials I'd like to throw... Email me Red-Right-Returning is for quitters !
