buzzbaitr Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Probably been discussed before, but since the 110 +1 goes a little deeper is it a little more suitable for the rock in early spring? I am talking early to mid march.
dtrs5kprs Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Megabass 110 reminds me more of the old rogues. Much more subtle and shallower. If you need to get deeper it is hard to top the McStick, never mind the 2:1 ratio on the price. Can get that McStick down 7'-8' or so consistently. Other than that, buy the one that comes with the free ice auger. Looks like we might need it all spring.
buzzbaitr Posted February 9, 2014 Author Posted February 9, 2014 I havent used the mccstick. I didnt know it went that deep. Thanks for the info I will have to pick one up when I go buy my auger.
dtrs5kprs Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 That was regarding the regular McStick 4 1/2". They also make a spoonbill type, but have not fished that one.
Sore Thumbs Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I think deeper is better now than in the spring. That being said. There is not a huge difference in how deep that plus one goes. I'm sure it would work just fine. I'm waiting to break out my bright red vision 110 that I just got in the mail. I think it will have its day come springtime.
buzzbaitr Posted February 10, 2014 Author Posted February 10, 2014 I am obviously a novice fisherman. This will be my first time to fish table rock in my own boat. I have been to table rock a few times before but never in mid march. I was thinking with this harsh winter the fish may still be deeper at that time. I also heard that purple is a good color on table rock but I have never heard about red being a color of choice. I assumed with super clear water u would want a more natural color?

That red stick has come up a few times. Don't own one so can't tell you much. Basically, you are right with the colors. Chrome / Some color of back...clear water, bright sun for lots of flash Chart Shad (as in the Lucky Craft color)/Blue Bandit (spro)/Sexy Shad type Pro Blue/Spro Blue Table Rock Shad...the purple back/chart sides, lots of variations on this one Pearl White/Bone Pearl Am sure there are lots of individual favorites, but those will work. Seems like the painted baits are a little better with clouds, chrome with sun. The chart shad, pearl, and pro blues seem to work regardless. Red craw / red & black can be a very good wart color, esp. with colored water up the rivers.

I fished the McRip quit a bit last year and really liked it. Gets down easily and isn't a lot of work to fish. Had some smallies about steal my rod from me, seems like they hit it going the opposite direction as fast as they can go for some reason.

Hey buzzbaitr, Thumbs and the rest of us down here have been buried in snow too long to be held accountable for our opinions about lure choice. It is also entirely possible that he mail-ordered some of that now-legal leafy green stuff from Colorado and smoked it before pulling the trigger on that Razorback red Vision 110. He could be having all kinds of visions. Don't pay him any mind. Or me. LOL
buzzbaitr Posted February 11, 2014 Author Posted February 11, 2014 Lol! Too funny champ. I forgot the bass down there are possibly razorback fans. I may have to pick me up some razorback red jerkbaits. Man I hear you on the cold and ice, I know this weather is great for the forum though, I check it every hour or so. This is the best forum of any I have ever read by far.
