Members smallwaterpro Posted February 10, 2014 Members Posted February 10, 2014 Hi I am a small water fisherman and an avid Float tube fisherman. Whats the deal on some conservation area's. James A Reed= no camping, no private boats or float tubes. But you can rent(pay) for dept boats, usually rowing john boats. How can folks properly fish these, besides ground pound fishing, now that's fishing unfreindly. And what about August Bush near St. Louis, have you seen those regulations? Usually only 2 bass on all these area's, makes it worth the trip right. Now I know I'm complaining, but I have fished other states with their kind fishing regs, Kansas is wonderful.. So my ask is why of these things are allowed in Missouri where I live? Any answers from anyone?
fishinwrench Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I'm gonna guess that if they allowed "free-range use" in the areas near the big cities it would be a zoo, then you wouldn't want to be there anyway.
Old plug Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 well in the case Of the Busch area the strict limits are because there are so 'any fisherman. and the boat deal you rent the boat but you can put a electric trolling motor on it. That is all you ned to properly fish those lakes in Busch.
WHARFRAT Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I also think they are trying to protect against "invasive" stuff!!! @lozcrappie Â
Al Agnew Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Exactly...protection from invasives, controlling the number of watercraft on the lake, and controlling the number of fish taken out of it. Sure, there might be a little bit of getting revenue from rental boats as well, but there are very sound conservation reasons for those limitations.
fishinwrench Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Is there a problem caused from "invasives" on any other MDC lakes? I've never heard about an issue at any of them.
fishinwrench Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Zebra muscles at Schell osage. Eurasian Milfoil at a lot of MDC lakes. http://protectyourwaters.net/mo/MOfaq.php Reed and Busch lakes are free of milfoil?
fishinwrench Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Doubt it (I've never been there), but not allowing personal boats means it can't be spread to other waterways. Pffft!
