Members ddhlakebound Posted February 13, 2014 Members Posted February 13, 2014 Is that the south side of the CC bridge that's showing some open water? Couple buddies just called wanting to go bank fishing tomorrow....looks like that might be the only possible spot.
zarraspook Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 The ONLY open water on the lake, that we seen, is from about 100 yards south of the mile long bridge to 400 yards north of the mile long bridge... That is looking from the parking lot back north/east under the bridge and NO clear water, just CLEAR ICE ....... This is a picture of the buoy just off the CC ramp... Members ddhlakebound Posted February 13, 2014 Members Posted February 13, 2014 Much thanks for the clarification. Probably saved us a trip to the lake just to chuck rocks at the ice.
hknfsh Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 WOW and double WOW !!! Never seen the lake like that. Looks like a frozen wasteland up there. Nice job on the pics Zarra. Thanks for posting them....saved me a trip. Been wanting to see it for myself
straw hat Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Thanks for the great (but depressing) pics Zara.
ten_scoach Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Great pics. Here's the experience that builds all our knowledge. When does that plus 50 degree days equal fishable. Thanks and I got my two nickels says next time I'll have my boat out there is next weekend, not this weekend. Thanks again for the super pics From north country originally and slightly makes me miss ice fishing.........slightly.
powerdive Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I doubt the coves will be completely clear, but I'd guess that the lake will be fishable by midweek. Then again, down here in the Deep South, that sun can bepretty strong...
Old plug Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 On LOZ there os more ice than most of us can remember. It goes all the way to the dam. now we got sleet and freezing rain. I was told friday by someone all lot of the ice was 4-5 inches and someone else told me there was mention of it in St Louis on radio are something saying it was 5-6. Im kisr sitting here on pins and needle about the breakup .my dock is 32x 32 and a good. target if SW winds pus the ice.
waterpossum Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I posted on here last saturday that a person that day could have launched at Hawker,(I drove all the way out to that ramp that day because when I went across the 215 bridge it looked open) but cautioned that it might freeze up. My bet is that the ice at that ramp is not nearly as thick or with the right winds might be the first to break up.
Members tryintofish1982 Posted February 16, 2014 Members Posted February 16, 2014 I took a stroll around Stockton yesterday afternoon. Still has a decent amount of ice everywhere. I didn't have a tape measure with me, but the ice at the mutton creek ramp and cedar ridge was anywhere from 3-5 inches. Cedar Ridge Mutton Creek Over pass near Mutton Creek Marina
