Guest Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Does anybody own one of these craft? Im thinking about buying the NuCanoe Frontier 12. Any input would be nice. I like the fact that I can stand up and fish.
drew03cmc Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I have heard they are okay, but if they get punctured, there isn't much repair. They are also heavy. Andy
Al Agnew Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I still don't get why it's so great to be able to stand up and fish. In my opinion, it's way too short to be useful as a tandem, and far too heavy to suit my purposes as a solo. But to each his own.
fishinwrench Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 To each their own indeed. I definatly fish better on foot than on butt.
Flysmallie Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I definatly fish better on foot than on butt. Yep I would rather stand and feel much more confident when I can. Â Â
RSBreth Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Yep I would rather stand and feel much more confident when I can. Until you hit a rock and ditch it. I'm with Al on this one. Giving up a light, nimble, and easily maneuvered paddlecraft for a barge with it's only upside is stand up fishing - it's a whole lot of shrug to me. Wow - I just looked it up - almost 80 pounds naked. Yeah - have fun with that. It's like the big SOT kayaks that need little wheels to get them to the launch because they're so heavy. Maybe you'll only fish little ponds that have a good paved ramp, then you might be o.k.
Guest Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 They "CLAIM" you can stand up & fish. That's why I'm looking at it. Are y'all speculating or have you tried it? That's my question.
Guest Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 My intention is to find a craft for big river pools, no wake lakes & ponds. Something I can stand and set the hook. I hate trying to set the hook in a seated position. Seats are for paddling or relaxing.
fishinwrench Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 What's wrong with a jon boat ? Most versatile craft ever devised IMO. Just choose the size that best suits your intended water, customize it a bit, fish out of it forever and a day.....then sell it for the same price (or more) than you paid for it. Can't lose.
