I have a question for you guys who are in the know. I have a Hummingbird 587 CI DI fish finder and can anyone tell me how to load the map with the fish attractors for Stockton Lake onto it. I downloaded the map with coordinates to my PC but would like to load it into the Hummingbird. Do I just load it onto a SD card and use it that way? Will the Hummingbird accept the format? Thanks for any help offered. Also, Thank you Bob for a very informative seminar last night. Good fishing everyone!

Grab a 6 pack, some beef jerky, and spend the afternoon keying them in. Thats the only way I know to do it.

If my memory is correct you need to take them and use gps babel or easy gps and convert them to gpx then they should load. I did it for a friend a couple of years ago so I may be off but it is something like that.

I believe that Dutch is correct. I have a Lowrance and converted the MDC data to the format for it and put it on an SD card. Took the SD card and put it in the fish finder and somewhere in the setup you can select to add the way points. The Humminbird should do the same. No need to enter them one at a time. Tried doing it one at a time once and it did take the better part of an afternoon. Using the SD card is MUCH easier.

Been a while since I have done it but will be working on tomorrow, this is where I will start:

Will post more after I "re learn " the process, only fault I have in this system is with the MDC files the names are all too long so I end up with 200 being Stockton and I can not see the number.

it has been a while since I downloaded my waypoints but as I remember downloaded from computer to sd card than straight to my hummingbird. the one thing you must do is to make sure the format for the waypoints in your hb is the same as the ones in the sd card.

If you go to the Humminbird website and register your unit, you should be able to download a program called HumminbirdPC. You may be able to download it without registering. Not sure on that one.

Once you get this program, it makes things pretty easy. You can open the MDC file right in that program and export the GPS points to an SD card.

Thanks for all the suggestions. It seems like Stockton has about 300 fish attractors out. Hopefully, I will be able to get them to download.

downloaded from MDC to computer, opened and saved with easy GPS then put on SD Card, used HumminbirdPC clicked on file on top left hand corner opened and saved to HumminbirdPC, then when done put on another SD card to load in unit. Have to restore default settings to load on unit.

I didn't read all the responses but you have to download the program from humminbird, then convert them and save them to the sd card. if done right, when you turn on the machine, it will auto load them.
