I've only seen Lake Taneycomo completely freeze once in the 31 years I've had the resort. That was back in the 80's and it only lasted over night. When they kick the water on it breaks up and goes down lake.

I didn't get up early enough to see the lake frozen but this is evidence that it did and it was rather thick. Big chunks floating down lake - quite a sight to see.

Phil the worse thing about Ice to me is the breakup. Those big chunks acn do to awful dock damage. It appears your are pretty small. around here some can be as big a football field. If they are 3-4 inches thick bothing stops them.

Wow, thx for the picture Phil. 2 things that I have never witnessed at taneycomo,is ice or muddy water at the upper end.

Ice is already gone. Remember the water from Table Rock is a balmy 43 degrees.

Supposed to be in the 70's by the weekend!

I'd say we left just in time! Headed east to St. Louis Saturday afternoon after a pretty successful, albeit quick, trip. Report to follow later on.
