The 300 Curado is a chunk. Using one now, and plan to until it dies (which is not likely soon). It is not a lot of fun to fish with.

Any of those big reels are also nice Carolina rig reels. If you check around on eBay you can find some big deals on most of the Lew's reels. All but 4 of mine are from eBay, and all at least $25 under retail, several much less than that.

Babler, you've convinced me to buy the Lews super duty. I guess $179 is not that much to pay for a quality reel. I bought a Lews reel last year and am very impressed with it. thanks.

Now, do you think the warming spell next week bring the fish up for stickbaits?

^----THIS. Ebay is a fantastic place to find great deals on NEW reels such as Shimano, LEWs, Daiwa, etc. Unitedoutdoors is one seller that has reels for $25 to $50 off retail. Same thing goes for Sportsmansoutfitters on Ebay. Killer deals you won't beat. If you are think about getting the Lew's Super Duty I would recommend looking there first. Super duty's going for 144.99 free shipping and no tax.

Balsa, here with the hook restriction you do not want to over extend the bait in the body length. By doing that it creates way to many available targets that are separate from the bio-mass.

Instead of hooking multiple rigs together, and I am speaking from experience here, create a single 5 wire rig with the arms a little longer. Put 2 blades on each arm and a dead bait on the end. Very similar to the 5 wire 15 target Picassa Bait Ball. Only you can do it better.

Make the arms on the bottom 3 inches longer than the top arms and make the center arm 3 inches longer than the longer bottom arms. Doing it this way you are keeping the bio-mass closer together and hopfully deflecting the strikes away from the forward portion of the bait.

In a perfect world, you want all the strikes on the trailing bait.

Several of the local guys here have purchased wire benders and that has saved a lot of blisters.

Just simply great work by you. thanks so much for sharing it.

Good Luck

As per Bill's instructions....I think. I used a grub and willow combination on the arms but could easily be changed out to a two willow combination. Going to try and find some tubing for blade/bait separation on the wires instead of making so many bends.

Balsa...try leader sleeves. Position where you want and crimp down. Should be able to figure the correct size sleeve from your wire diameter.

I'm going to try and find something so they won't be as time consuming to make. The only advantage I can see to bending the wire is it stiffens the wire which keeps the wires from flexing and tangling up on the others.

There is a pair of pliers that will make that bend for you. I use them on A rigs and to make Z bend spinnerbaits like the old Willow Z. Just run the wire into the jaws and squeeze. Hardest part is remembering which "direction" it is bending.

Got a pic of the type you're talking about? Can they bend 0.045" wire easily?

Here's a link. And yes on the wire. That is probably over the listed size, but my pair has plenty of leverage up to 0.051 wire. Mine were from the old Stamina I think, but they apparently no longer carry them. It might have been Jann's or Barlows.

The pair in the link look like mine, and are cheaper too.

Awesome....maybe Barlows has a pair. I'm heading to Dallas for the next three days and will stop in and see.
