Hi All,

I bought an old cabin and boat dock on Bull Shoals just below Beaver Creek a little over a year ago. It's the cruddy looking old wood dock where the high lines cross, furthest downstream. It ain't much, but it's paid for....the cabin is up the road a mile or so on Copperhead Road west of Cedar Creek. Have not had too much time to use either one very much but I hope that will change.

Have pretty well forgot everything I ever knew about fishing and could use a good refresher course. Don't know anyone in this area and would like to get acquainted. I've got a pretty good aluminum Lowe Roughneck 1752 with a Johnson 50. Not into all this hi tech stuff and sure don't care about trying to impress anyone, like to go on a pretty low key and enjoy the whole experience. Not above actually eating a fish or several.

Drop a line if you run out of anybody to go fishing with, and if you ever need to use that dock for a little bit feel free. Just treat it like it was your own and leave things like you found them. Pretty good spot to eat a sandwich or get out and stretch your legs. "Old timers" are sure welcome, I'm getting there quicker than I thought...!

Thanks,

Welcome aboard. That is very nice of you about the dock. Do you live in the cabin or just use it for vacationing.

Thank you for the replies.

I live in Branson, the cabin is just a little getaway spot. I really love it at Cedar Creek! Have some very good neighbors and you can step down to the end of the road and set on a rock on top of a three hundred foot bluff looking out to the southwest. I think you can see all the way to Fort Smith...

It does seem to be a good fishing area from what I have had time to try. Have caught some dandy bluegill! Maybe I can take some time off this weekend and go for a bit. Have been working my tail off trying to make a good living for the last twenty five years or so and needing to get back into the great outdoors.

I'm to far northeast of you to take you up on your offer.... but welcome to the forum. Stick around long enough and you'll be fishing with OAF members.

Crappie fisherman is right. Right out in front of your dock their is gap where 2 mud flat points come close together. And their is a lot of stumps just up stream from that area. I've caught a lot of black bass & crappie there. Welcome to the forum.

Thanks Scott!

Yes, that is a good area out in front. I bought the place in early November of 2012 and of course the water was REALLY low then. It was down to about the river channel on the far bank. I did have the good sense to make some good tours of the area to check out the structure and it really looks great for about any kind of fish you might want to go for depending on the water level.

Had some fun duck calling a couple of times late last year. Didn't have time to mess with hunting any of them and mainly it was too darn cold. Did run into a couple of young fellas covered in camo and mud that were having a grand time ducking in the area. They brought my old tribe to mind when we were still full of it. I quickly found out that it's a lot different calling to the echo of a limestone bluff than it is calling to flooded pecan timber in Vernon County on the Marmaton River! (That's my homeland).

Guess I'm wasting enough of Phil's bandwith just ratchet jawing here, but do want to sincerely thank folks here for the friendly welcome. We used to stay at Lilley's before we moved here about ten years ago and had a dandy time. Mostly been bait fishing for trout on Taneycomo the last few years when we get to do anything at all. It's a lazy man's way but the wife and I have fun with it and the fish are so handsome and pretty good eatin if you get the nice pink fleshed ones and grill them over pecan.

By the way, I am in serious need of two decent boat dock winches if any of you should happen to catch wind of some. Two dock wenches would be even better....couldn't resist that, sorry. Trailer winches (or wenches.....) won't do. Willing to pay a fair price.
