ruthead Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Fished my favorite crappie pond yesterday evening. Still was 1/3 covered with ice. No bites (imagine that) but felt good to get out there. Nothin but the beautiful noise of nature. I'll hit it this weekend with my fly rod throwin my favorite semi-suspending crappie jig. The slow suspending action or lack of action can work great in the spring. Anybody else hit on a crappie pond yet? fishinwrench Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 I had plans to hit a small lake for big bluegills today but then got covered up with work. Not too disappointed now that I see this wind picking up. I'm still tempted to try it late this afternoon. I'm loving this daylight until 7:30pm business
ruthead Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 Yep, got mor time now. That wind will help warm the water up! "Pretty soon we may not have any rights left because it might infringe on someone's rights"
Greasy B Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 I'm loving this daylight until 7:30pm business Yeah, it seems like I just woke up from a bad dream, now I can resume living a life. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974
fishinwrench Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I didn't hit the pond. Ended up following a "hot walleye lead" here on the lake and caught everything but a walleye. And got into a physical dispute with a pelican that was holding deed to the island I wanted to fish. I'm not sure what the laws are regarding the treatment of disgruntled pelicans, so I'll just leave it at that. When I say that I "caught everything but a walleye" I'm only slightly exaggerating. Who else here can say that they have caught a V8 camshaft? Go P-Line !
ruthead Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 You ARE the Man. Never caught one of those. I don't see any feathers on the cam shaft so I guess you didn't use it on the Pelican. "Pretty soon we may not have any rights left because it might infringe on someone's rights"
fishinwrench Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 The cam latched onto a 1/16oz. Chart/wht Roadrunner. And the pelican did leave behind about a dollars worth of fly tying material, but I would have gladly paid 2 dollars to keep him from attacking my crotch. Not cool!
ollie Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Those cam shafts are a tricky bunch! I can't ever catch them on Roadrunners. "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
Flatbottom Boy Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I dont think they suspend much, but when Wrench was getting his junk chomped on by that pelican he probably let his bait fall just enough. Good technique actually. Way to go Wrench!
