I will be staying at army rec this weekend and want to fish the gravois to the dam. What will be my best launching location considering current conditions. We will be throwing jerkbaits and crappie fishing as well.

Are you talking about LORA at the 8mm? I'm there this weekend too if so. We haven't been there this early with the lake down but I remember their ramp being plenty deep for a smaller boat. I'm thinking Mccubbins is likely OK too. Not sure if you're looking to drive up lake rather than boat though.

Well here is what to expect. No matter where you launch. Assuming your going to be fishing for bass. It is still about the milk run system using rouges. I do not do that. That kind of fishing is for younger men with thick gas wallets. As of today a lot of the gravois is in the very low 40s. It may be a bit better back in the larger coves. I went up in a few yesterday and the warmest I found was 43 degrees. If there is wind the the lake temperature can drop in minutes. That is because the warm water is vert thin on top of some real cold stuff that the wind bring up. I started to go out today before the wind came up hoping to see a few degrees warming back in the coves. The temperature was about 42 to 43 degrees up in Cedar creek. Then the wind started kicking up and the temperature dropped to 40 and 41 in a few minutes. It is going to be pretty tuff fishing. The weather is suppose to turn cold with snow sunday.

Coffman Beach ramp will put you close to dead center in the area you want to fish. Fish the windblown banks on the North Shore; find brush and there will be fish suspended above/around it or fish channel swings. Slow is the order of the day right now.

Those wind blown banks will turn cold so fast its hard to believe.I seen 43 to 40 in a matter of minutes this afternoon. Its a strange year. There must be a real mass of water in the 30s under a very thin surface temperature.

You got that right, the water is still way cold. The N Shore normally warms as quick or quicker than anything on the lower end and would be where I'd start if fishing the target area. Add a little sun, a little wind(not a lot), and a guy could get his "arm broke" out there in the next month or so....

I know Old Plug talked about the "milk run"... Please forget his advise.... there are plenty of Rogue fish to be caught right now. You can also catch them many other ways. Just follow the patterns.... You don't need a thick wallet for gas. Look at your TOPO maps and the water temps... You can find fish on

ANY part of the lake right now. Yes it is slow and yes it is tough but this "milk run" is a joke.... I have caught 5lb fish in the Niangua arm, Mid Lake (Linn Creek area) and also by the dam this time of year... No "Milk Run" just smart fishing...... My biggest Lake of the Ozarks fish is a little under 8lbs so I am far from an expert.... Just pointing out not to get locked into a "milk run" that I have never heard of.... And I have heard of several Milk Runs... Just not the one that Old Plug is referring... I am only 42 and have only fished this lake on my own for 30 years..... Yes, the first few years probably cost my Dad a lot of tackle but it wasn't uncommon for him to drop me an my buddies off in a 17' paddle jon for a day of fishing when I was 12 YO. Forget the "milk run", shut up and fish.... Unless YOU have a "milk run".... Never trust someone else's!!!!
