LittleRedFisherman Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 Sweet report Brett!!!! I love these type of reports.....can't get enough of them.....simply awesome. I agree with Britt, kids on small streams....the possibilities are endless. My dad taking me to creeks is what spawned my love for fishing and is why I love creeks so much.........Great job daddy!!!! Thanks man!! Yeah, I've got a creek in mind now that you mention it, that can be waded for about a mile, be a good place to take him this summer.. Here, I grew up fishing a ditch called the Mayo Ditch that runs here on the farm, it was full of feisty spotted bass, nowadays you have to go south on it a few miles to find them, it runs to shallow now here to hold fish all year.. Man did I have fun as a kid fishing in it, everytime I cross it, those memories flood back.. There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
Mitch f Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Have you tried your 110 Jr yet, that thing has been my go to the times I've fished this winter!! I was skeptical of that color I got there, but they seem to love it!! Actually I don't have one yet but I do have the lucky strike version and haven't tried it yet. I do have an X80 but it seems like a rolling bait for a finicky bass bite. Ive only caught a couple on it so far. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
E Green Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 IMO Sam a baker state park is a fantastic place to take your kid. Big creek is perfect for a family. I go there with mine about 10 times each summer to swim, fish, hike and they have a ni e playground. The stream is filled with sunfish and some smallies. I often see deer, armadillos, northern water snakes, turtles, frogs etc. it is a truly remarkable little park and it is very family friendly in every way IMO For reference, my kids are almost 2 and 4.
E Green Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Edit... Of course It all depends on where you live and what you can get to with relative ease.
ness Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Nice! Get them out there and let them have fun. THIER fun. Plant the seed. I miss those days , but they'll circle back. John

Sam A. Baker is the place I caught my first ever Smallie! On a 3" white grub. It was that trip when my love for Smallies began and I haven't been able to get them off my mind since. Great little park!
