ozark trout fisher Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Well, I guess it's time to point out that the SEC is a better basketball conference than we all thought. Just three teams in the tourney, but all three in the Sweet 16. Obviously Kentucky has been the most impressive, breaking the hearts of 2/3 of the state of Kansas (Stanford took care of the rest.) Tennessee's best win, ironically, probably came in the first four over Iowa, as victories against overseeded UMASS and Mercer are nothing to write home about. Florida will just suck the life out of you, but it might take all game do finish the job. That second half domination of Pitt was something to see. The conference may have but little depth behind them, but those are three very impressive teams to have as your only reprentatives.
snap Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Florida looks like the the best team !!! The SEC is/was better than given credit and did no different than many of the other conferences that were given credit for beating up on each other!!!
Quillback Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 I like the Kentucky/Louisville matchup. Not that I'm a fan of either team, but it's a great rivalry and hopefully will be fun to watch.
joeD Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 The SEC has three teams that are winning. Doesn't mean that the SEC was somehow under rated. UCLA has won 11 titles, but that doesn't mean the Pac 10 was a great conference. Get past your "conference" strength arguments. They are useless and beside the point. It is about a team that is playing well, and playing better than their opponent on a given day. Period. Not to mention: They are still kids. Big ones, athletic ones, fast ones, whatever. Still just kids. Sticking with Florida. Not strongly though. Virginia might be it this year.

No doubt if Arkansas and Mizzou had been allowed in the tourney, we'd now have 5 SEC teams in the final 16.
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Well I have to change my pick, how many do I get? I can't go with FL, too obvious. Michigan State! I think I'll ask him. http://youtu.be/_KbGkN2Bkko Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
ozark trout fisher Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Apparently the key to bracket success for me is not having Mizzou in the tourney. Still have all of my final four and 6 elite eight teams left. A good second weekend and I might actually have a chance to win my pool for the first time in forever. By this point of the tourney, I'm usually just trying to beat the guys who picked based on the mascot, largely because I almost always pencil in Mizzou making that first ever final four, which doesn't help things. Not an option this year. I'm sticking with Florida over Louisville for it all, even though the Cardinals looked awfully shaky in their first two games and they have a tough one against UK this weekend. I'm nervous about UVA's game against Michigan State (I have the Cavs in the final four) but other than that I'm confident. Zona is my other Final Four team and they look the part so far.
Quillback Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Zona looked impressive whipping Gonzaga. They really outplayed Zaga's guards who were just too small to handle the bigger, quick Zona guards.
Quillback Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 No big upsets last night. Dayton continues to advance, but I believe they get Arizona next.

Dayton plays Florida....If they beat the Gators that would be an amazing feat. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
