fishingaddiction Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Based on skeeter's post the MO DOT has listened to the local folks comments and are trying to figure out the best way to get this done with the least amount of hassle. Those of us who use the bridge regularly know how bad it is, so I am glad they are going to fix it. OldMillRoad: I sent you a PM just now. You must live close to our house in Mill Creek Shores. Those of us who use the bridge regularly know how bad it is, so I am glad they are going to fix it. It is definitely bad. Surprised there are not more accidents because of it, especially when trailers get to bouncing around. Compared to the way road projects are handled in KS, MODOT is absolutely stellar. We routinely marvel at the speed with which they finish projects that would drag on in KS. Will be hard on Jill's and the Fillin' Station. Worth lining up for though.
fishingaddiction Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Glad our house is on the south side so we can get to the Filing Station. Love that place. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Are they talking about total replacement ????? We just went thru a total replacement of a couple bridges here and in neither case was there a total closure closure of the a bridge. when the new one was done. They directed the traffic over the new bridge. Only time there was a total closure was for a couple hours every time they blew up a section of the old bridge. That was three times. They can add lanes to without much interruption. No just the deck. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
fozzype Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 A new bridge and new alignment to tie into it would cost in excess of $200 million. MoDOT only has $325 million a YEAR for construction starting in 2016. MoDOT needs over $475 million just to "maintain" what we have today with NO improvements for safety, lanes, etc. Thank you for the good comments and remember we all like good roads, coming home safe, and what they roads do for our economy.
