oneshot Posted March 27, 2014 Author Posted March 27, 2014 Ok I have a 12 Foot Jon with, 30 Pound Thrust Trolling Motor. My Son said this would be just fine in the holes we go. Said he is just nervous Gigging in colder weather that he would be more comfortable Gigging first of the season when it is warmer. oneshot
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 If you going to run with the giggers I've seen on the Niangua you need a big generator and some high intensity lights. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Goggle-Eyed Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 12' is pretty short. I would suggest at least a 14' boat. I love my 17 Lowe Paddle Jon. I have seen a couple of local companies make them but there is usually "something wrong" with them... the Blazer is cool but they only make it in a really heavy gauge material.... It is brutally tough but floats way deep. If you can find a 17' lowe, I know you will be happy, well, until you stand up to Gig, then it might a little narrow~
fishinwrench Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 What's the hull width on the paddle jon? 32"?
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 What's the hull width on the paddle jon? 32"? Bottom yes. I kick myself every once in awhile for selling mine. They are a hand full though and a trailer is a must if you're going far. We used to haul them in the back of the pickup, with the tailgate up, around the river, but that wasn't much highway time. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
oneshot Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 Ok I have an 18/60 Plenty Big but always thought too Big I mean it takes up some room in a hole. Just run Trolling Motor. oneshot
