I have a 7 foot St. Croix medium power MF flex blank set up with spiral wrapped micro guides. Hoglaw put it together for me. It is a perfect small crank rod.

Sounds like a great stick, rps. I use a 7-0 medium/fast Duckett MIcro Magic designed for mid-size crank baits. It's paired with a Lew's Tournament series reel in 6:4:1. Love it. Light as a feather and can feel every wiggle.

Champ. it is. When the people like Duckett begin to spiral wrap, the need for wrapping pros like Hoglaw will go away.

Just bought a 6ft 10 cranking rod from Denali. Using a Abu Garcia Winch with a 5:4:1 ratio. So far I love it. Greg Bohannan is coming out with a wiggle wart rod from Denali in the near future. I will have one of those too.

Not to totally hijack a thread but..... I'm in the market for a new jig rod anybody got any ideas?

Give me a price range and a throwing/bait preference and I will answer.

I tried something a little different last year and purchased a phoenix in 7'6 and paired it with a smoke pt in 5.4-1, I might be wrong but you may have more options to run your baits a little deeper with the longer rod, one thing for sure, we all get what we pay for despite name brand, good fishin to all!!

I have two setups. I really like the lews super duty reels and they are really light. I always get the high speed 7:1 ratio because I can get it down fast and just really slow down plus if they are biting the wart they will really put slack in your line like they did the past 2 weeks. I have a BPS pro qualifier rod that is 6 years old. 6'6" medium power and fast tip. The other I use is a carbon light 7' medium fast. Love the setup.

Built a 7'6" wart rod last winter. Ended up using it more for redfins due to conditions, but it has the right feel when pulling the wart along with the tip.
