abkeenan Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Got down there Friday night and spent all day Saturday cleaning up the boat after the winter gave her a beating and installing two sonar units on it. Got out Sunday and ran down to Long Creek all the way down the Cricket creek and the water has a real brown stain to it. Temp was 53 to almost bumping 55 in certain spots. Was just a tough go and only caught 4 shorts with 3 on a wiggle wart and 1 on a a-rig. Water visibility there is about 1 maybe 2 feet. Had boat troubles this morning and was only able to fish around the 86 park with the troller and temps there were considerably cooler than in Long Creek at 47-48 degrees and had one bite on a jig and that was it. Pretty poor weekend but mainly was just to knock the snow/dust off the old boat. Saw G-Man and Ish Monroe's truck + rigs at the ramp at 86. Saw Jason Christie on the water as well as another pro and didn't see either land a fish. Dam area still seems to be tough right now or just had lockjaw today with the fronts blowing though. Long Creek looks to be ready to have some good fishing soon one would think with the temps that are 5-6 degrees higher than the main lake dam type stuff. Will also mention couldn't get them to eat a jerk bait for the life of me and usually I can. Pretty disappointed but that's fishing. Good luck out there and will be interesting to see what the pro's do later this week and weekend.
fishingaddiction Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 You had a successful weekend, if not for catching fish, at least you got your boat lined out. I will be out watching the Elite boys fish this weekend, maybe I can learn something other than reading reports of all the fish being caught on the A rig. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
Sac River Jim Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 alton jones just posted a pic on facebook of a big rainbow he caught on a blk/gold rogue. i'd guess we went up the white some wheres around the mouth of roaring river.
Sprint21fter Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Several years ago driving down the lake by the dam I saw a 10lb trout floating out there.
MOsmallies Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Appreciate the honest report Brett... LOZ was tough last weekend too. A few on the Jerkbait and we started to put together a Wart bite right before we had to leave on Sunday but otherwise really tough. Water temps were 41-44 most of the weekend, but rose to 48-50 by 1:00 pm on Sunday. That's when the Wart bite seemed to be starting, Wish we would have had more time to piece it together.

Ya the purpose of the trip was really to get the boat in ship shape and also to get the new electronics installed. The fishing was really just secondary but heck I wanted it to at least be a little better than it was. Will be interested to see what the Elites do on the Rock and where the majority of the top bags are coming from on the lake.
