Sam Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Phil, I got my Ozark Anglers decals out of the back of your truck yesterday morning. Thanks! And- your rig was parked just fine. We did OK on keeper crappie too, but we didn't get limits. We went past Bear Den, where I think you started out, down toward Virgin Bluff. The water temp down that way was 55 going up to 58, and all the crappie I cleaned were males. Down there at least, the spawn isn't on yet and we've still got some time.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 12, 2014 Author Root Admin Posted April 12, 2014 Bear Den is.... ? Is that the second cove south of the ramp past the first major point? Has the green MDC sign on the left going in?
duckydoty Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Yes it has an MDC sign on the left going in. It has a little cove off to the right at the mouth with 2 docks in it and one dock on the right of the main cove just past the mouth. Its the 1st bigger cove just down from Bridgeport and is a little bigger than Peach Orchard. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
Members shipper Posted April 14, 2014 Members Posted April 14, 2014 Phil, My friend and I were two of the boats that went by you first thing Thursday am. I was in the old flat bottom with the yamaha jet. I said hello but didn't know that was you. I could hear him in the background on your video. You looked busy reeling in fish! We had a great couple of days in the area, had to work for them though. Our fish were about 50-50 shallow and deep. I had my first experience with my new spider rig that I made. I did like it, although I lost a good rod! We were laughing about the parking job, but it was no big deal. Thanks for the stickers, I will proudly display on the old rig. 18 yrs with my college buds for our annual fishing trip and it was a good one. No floods, hail or sleet this time! Talked to a lot of folks saying fishing was slow but they were enjoying the nice temps, wind was tough at times especially in my rig. Most folks were catching a lot of shorts and we had a lot of fish just at 10 that we put back. Took some fish home for the freezer and probably will not be able to make it back this year so don't catch them all. Enjoy the reports from all on here. By the way my rod is about 50 ft off the bank up the cove about half way to the first inlet to where you were fishing, finders keepers!
