Lancer09 Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Yeah it would be terrible to only make 3 million for 4 yrs. What a loser. Dorial doesn't need to be anywhere near Springfield. I don't see the big benefit for MSU. Yeah it might put a few butts in the seats but at what cost? Plus you know you only get one year with him. And what kind of message does that send to future recruits from a team that doesn't recruit well to begin with? And more importantly what kind of message does that send to the other players in all sports at MSU. Too much to go wrong for little gain. With the Stadium renovations they are doing they need to get people in the stands period. End of Story. Besides what future recruits do we really need to worry about losing. I mean seriously, they haven't actually been competitive in forever. They could use a few wins, regardless of who is on he team to bring some attention to the program. Maybe it's just me but if they aren't even interested it's just another strike against Terry Allen.

I couldn't agree more with this. All they have to say is that they are trying to help the local kid straighten out his life. I don't think there is any way Terry Allen is against it, hell he'd prob go pluck kids out of the Greene county jail if he thought they would help him win. I'm assuming his bosses are against it. But you are right, they have to get people in that stadium and Dorial would do that.
ozark trout fisher Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Come on. The guy (allegedly) shoved a girl down the stairs and probably only avoided prison just because the (alleged) victim was too scared of the backlash to file charges. And this is after two previous legal issues in his short time at MO. How you could be upset with a school you love turning that down is a mystery to me. No one is good enough to be worth that. I'm with Flysmallie 100% on this.
BATCAB27 Posted April 15, 2014 Author Posted April 15, 2014 Oh I dont love MO State. I've been to 1 game there and I've lived here forever. And I opened this thread by saying I hope DGB never plays another down of football just because he's an idiot. But, most football programs care about making money first and foremost. Mo State sends their kids off to get stomped by a D1 school every year to the tune of a million bucks. All Im saying is if they want to make more money, and probably win more games, DGB should at least be on their radar.
Wayne SW/MO Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 If he goes to a Div II school and plays hard, practices hard, does well in school, in other words becomes a model citizen, he will have a shot at being an early draft choice. Oh I don't think there is any doubt he will be drafted and drafted high. The down side for him, I believe, is that the team will hold off on paying him big bucks until he proves himself on and off the field. I think this cost him millions already and if he screws up either before the pros or early in the pros he might well be done. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

If DGB wasn't a million dollar prospect he would be locked up now.

If he's drafted early, he'll get paid well. 1st round picks get 4 year contracts at a minimum rate and a pro-rated bonus depending on where in the draft order they are picked. It's pretty much been locked in under the latest collective bargaining agreement. There is some flexibility in the bonus structure.
BATCAB27 Posted April 15, 2014 Author Posted April 15, 2014 He wont be a 1st rounder. Too much money a team would have to guarantee him.
Wayne SW/MO Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 It's all speculation, but I suspect he went from a possible top pick to a late in the day. It wouldn't be so bad if this one incident was hanging over his head, but he has two others. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Lancer09 Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 If he gets on a small school somewhere he will go in the first. That's solely based on his measurables. Remember Dez Bryant? Had all sorts of issues and now the Cowboys send a body guard with him EVERYWHERE because he beat his momma and he is thriving in the league.
