dtrs5kprs Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Just about tired of wind by this point. Really thought it would help, but it did not help me at all. Still can't catch them on moving baits, including grubs and swimbaits. Hope they ripped the stick for someone else, had one on it late, in absolute rollers. No real big change in temps or color, did find a bit of 54 water. Everything I wanted to fish had wind all over it. Not catching a lot of shorts, which is odd for me. The way and places I fish tend to make that happen. Kind of thinking there are just not a lot of fish up yet where I have been fishing. Had 8 bites today, 5 were keepers, 2 shorts, 1 broke off jusst after the hookset. Re-tie stupid... No killers, 15-17" fish, most with eggs. Have not seen a sign of a bed, a rubbed fish, or any other sign of nest building. Fish were in the same 6'-15', and yes they were on the little rig, even in swells.
Quillback Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Thanks for the report. I was planning on going today, but decided to wait a day until this wind calms down. Tomorrow is forecast to be calm and cloudy - maybe that's what they want?
dtrs5kprs Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 Sun or clouds will be fine. I'd just like some slick water.
fishingaddiction Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 I don't envy you fishing in the wind today, it was just brutal. Kinda glad I had to work, but tomorrow may be the day you have been looking for except for the chance of rain in the late afternoon. You had a good keeper to total catch rate. Sounds like Quill might go fishing as well. Look forward to more posts, as I am coming over to fish Saturday. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
dtrs5kprs Posted April 17, 2014 Author Posted April 17, 2014 Rain is fine, provided it is not accompanied by lightning. Right now the temps are where I would expect them in March, and I do not care for March.
dtrs5kprs Posted April 17, 2014 Author Posted April 17, 2014 And a correction, was tweaking the baits on my a-rig and discovered one had clamped down on one of the dummies. Nice little circle of teeth. Stupid fish.
fishingaddiction Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 The water temps have gone down somewhat since last Saturday. I wonder if the majority of the staging fish have moved out deeper? Have you had any action dragging a jig, tube or wobble head plastic or run the A rig down to around 20' or so for suspended fish? Born to Fish. Forced to Work.

Have not found any suspended fish, on graph or otherwise.
Champ188 Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Days when you have to count down an A-rig for suspended fish are the days I am really glad the old chaps on yonder side of the big pond invented golf. Or, as our moderator is known to say, "I'm just not that mad at 'em."

When fishing seems tough my mind gets to working for solutions, something different to try. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
