BATCAB27 Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 I heard that Marshall's agent said he would be "interested" in the Mizzou job. Whatever that means.
ozark trout fisher Posted April 22, 2014 Author Posted April 22, 2014 I think we still have some twists and turns before we reach the finish line here. Some yahoo tweeted that Anderson had already agreed to a deal to be announced tomorrow, which got everyone in a frenzy. But from what I can tell, there is no one else corroborating that, so it certainly doesn't appear to have truth behind it. I think we'll see a strong push for Gregg Marshall before anything happens, and it looks like Matt Painter is right in the middle of things yet again, according to what I'm reading. That's bold to even consider him again, but it's a hire that does have some potential to work if it's deemed worth the risk of trying to negotiate another contract with him. I do think at the end of the day it's one of those three, but even that's far from certain. A total off the wall hire is always in play in a Mizzou coaching search. One has to consider that every name we hear leaked could be legitimate, or it could be a smokescreen for who they really want, who we may have no idea they're even interested in until the contract is signed. See Haith, Frank.
Wayne SW/MO Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 I could see Marshall being interested. His personality is said to be the type that would welcome the recruiting advantages of Missouri and the SEC. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
ozark trout fisher Posted April 23, 2014 Author Posted April 23, 2014 He isn't denying anything yet, which is a start. Tim Floyd (who's coached with a lot of success at Iowa State, USC, and lately UTEP) is emerging as the latest candidate. He may only have 5+ good years of coaching left in him at this point, but he's won a lot and looks like a safe pick. He's being ridiculously forward to his interest to the point where you half expect him to take out an ad in the Columbia Tribune. So convincing him to come here on the (relative) cheap isn't going to be a problem. Wouldn't be surprised if Missouri quickly snatches him up in the event that Marshall turns Alden down (or demands too many $$$$$$$$$.)
Wayne SW/MO Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 If they are going to play in the SEC it's no different than the Big 12, you gotta pay to play. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
darbwa Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Watch in 2 or 3 years Haith will be in the running for coach of the year and use that as a springboard to some elite coaching job. TU has always been the stepping stone for so-so coaches to move on to better positions. F2F I think F2F has it right. Haith will have success at Tulsa. Additionally, I think Mizzou should realize that THEY are a stepping stone too. Just look at the past 3 coaches. Haith moved on up to Tulsa, Mike Anderson stepped up to Arkansas and Quinn Snyder stepped up to be a used car salesman. Well... that may be a lateral move. If he started selling new cars then it would be a step up. Maybe Haith just lost respect for a program that bolted from their conference at the first possible opportunity forsaking all other programs for the possible benefit of football. Who knows? But I sure miss the border war rivalry they walked away from. I remember those games fondly, especially that last basketball game in Allen Fieldhouse! Rock Chalk Jayhawk!
Jerry Rapp Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 maybe we are overlooking the real problem? Alden.

Not gonna sugarcoat it-that's simply an ll-informed statement. Don't even try to defend it, or actually do. We'd have a pretty good laugh. Have fun going 2-10 this fall. Maybe you'll beat Iowa State or something to get to 1-8 in a conference with two losses to FCS programs, even though KU decided to take a rare year off from contributing to that total. High goals, my friend. But ya'll have great scenery....Oh wait, we got ya beat there too.
Wayne SW/MO Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Iowa State?? Is that the same school that made the final 16, I believe it was, and lost to the eventual national champion. They play UConn closer than any other team. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

It is not MU that won't play KU it is KU that won't play MU. Haith left before he was told leave...that is kind of obvious. MU is going to be a bad team next year regardless.
