dtrs5kprs Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 To hopefully answer a few questions that keep coming up, you cannot fish the little rig too slowly. To give you an idea, I will fish small areas for hours. Maybe 3 hours on one point or bank. Most days I fish 2-4 places in a 10 hour day. Yesterday we fished about 4 little places, if you count re-fishing one twice. And fish it on slack line. You should rarely feel it.
Ham Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 The deadstick technique is so counter intuiative to our normal fishing techniques. Heck, it's hard for me to dead stick natural baits. I also worry a little bit about gut hooking smallies this time of year as well. I've got an area I'm going to spend hours in tomorrow. I fished it for about 30 minutes Tuesday and I had a bite almost every cast. One of the benefits of nanofil is that it will float on the surface and you get a nice strike indicator without having to have a tight line on the fish. I love the easy and solid hooksets too. Oddly enough, I'll be fishing Norfork tomorrow. I have that key area I'll be going to. It won't hurt my feelings if I work it back and forth all day, but I have a couple of nice looking areas nearby that I'll hit if I have time. Including a nice looking off shore ara where fish might stage. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

It is fish catching, not fish finding. Norfork should be awesome. Was just talking with Dwight Keefer about that lake a few days back.
fishingaddiction Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Well said Dave. The little rig is not a cover water bait. If you fish it that way you will miss the majority of the fish or not even get bit on it. The beauty of it is you spend time fishing/catching, not running all over the lake burning gas and covering water. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
jay bird Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Fished it with my nine and ten year old last night great bait for them no lost baits and they had four or five fish with a ton of missed bites. We where on one spot for 45 minutes
