I understand that the fish are not biting on the jerk bait any more but, I was thinking and looking at both for differences and similarities of the clunn stx and mega bass vision 110. I was told that the mega bass works better than the clunn by articles and other fisherman. The other day(February) I had the opportunity to purchase a mega bass vision 110 for the fact that I already own a few of the clunn's and haven't caught a fish on the clunn's. From what the fact that one is $25 and the other $8 they look almost identical(also was told they wobble about same). A few weeks ago when the water temp was starting to warm up I threw the mega bass a few times and the clunn also. The big surprise behind the clunn is that it doesn't "wobble" as much as the mega bass, why is that, I don't know. I noticed right off that the mega bass has a better, more erratic action. The rod I thought was the problem with the clunn, So I decided to tie it on the rod that had the mega bass and same deal the clunn still had the "pull" feel.So the mega bass is more expensive for the reason that it has a more erratic action.Im still going to fish with clunn jerk baits because you buy 2 clunn's for the price of one mega bass and also they look so identical.

I own too many jerkbaits. It leads to confusion when you have TOO MANY options. Having said that. With jerkbaits, every dog will have its day. I don't believe the RC STX will run quite as deep and like you mentioned their action may be a little bit more subdued. There are going to be days where a bait that runs shallower and has a less dramatic action with be the BEST option.

I catch fish on Megabass and I have not caught fish on my STX baits. This leads me to have less confidence in the STX and then throw them less. I have definitely see fish caught on STX baits. I just have not caught fis on them yet.

I do know the Megabass are fragile. IF I'm throwing shallow, I'm throwing McSticks.

Yea, those crappy little tiny backwards barbed hooks replaced immediately! They WILL straighten out on a big fish

I have seen three Megabass break their lip off quite easily. One was brand new, and bumped off the rubber skirting on the side of a dock on its first cast. Some of the guys have tried epoxy or super glue, but neither seem to hold up. If anyone knows of a successful repair technique, please clue us in. I have both megabass and RC, and I find the RC finish tends to chip and flake off easily. That being said, I'd still rather pay $8 than $28.

I have a bunch of each. I agree with Ham, that each will likely have its day. But for me, the STX just catches more and bigger fish. I have a ton more confidence throwing them around than the 20-25 MB Vision jerk baits I have. The finish is not quite as durable on the STX, as noted above, but they are not as frail and suspend far better out of the box than my MB's. My MB's mostly gather dust these days.

They are two entirely different baits... I have a few of each, but I have more confidence in a couple other baits.
