Ned Rig No Glue

Got an idea to keep zero's and z-man's on the hook without glue. Used the little zip ties that come in variety packs of ties that are good for not much else but holding wires and such. Slip the bait up on the shank to the bottom of jig head, It takes a little pushin but it will slide up and stay long enough to put zip tie around it and cinch it down between jig head and bait barb. We fished it yesterday and works fine. I even tried glue'd rigs and these both and caught fish on both. And if you want color the ties come in clear,red yellow and green.I will need calmer water to test it so give it a try and post. We will see how it goes.

Hooks are mighty big. Keep us updated.

You can let them hang loose. I glue for two reasons. First, it cuts down on some of the line twist generated. Second, the flopping worm simulates "pressure bites" from brown fish, when raising up on the worm.

what if you put a zip tie right where the hook starts bending up also? It should make the tail wiggle more?

AHH good idea dtrs5kprs. I'm testing and learning. The 2 on the right are 1/4 oz for wind. The one on the left is 1/8 oz.

Fished the 1/8oz in yesterday's tempest. Would be hard to get worse and be out there safely (or sanely).

Tried a 3/16oz and they would not eat it. Falls too fast, kills the subtle action. This trip was the first use of the 3/16, and for me it was just too big. Just kind of have to bite the bullet and figure out some work around tactics for wind.

have you ever tried a split shot rig? With a 1/16th or 1/32 ounce weight. The ned on a weight less hook should be better? No?

what weight and kind of line was you using with the 3/16. line can make a difference in the fall rate.

Not sure who makes it, but there is bait tape designed exactly for that. Just wrap it around to keep more pressure on it. Would especially work well for jig trailers that tend to slip down when trying to throw it a mile.
