Walleyedmike Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 So sorry for your loss lmt out, but thanks for reminding us all how precious our time with family is. Glad you and your dad made some great Stockton Lake memories and you shared them with us. I'll be praying for strength for you and your family during this difficult time. BTW everyone knows all the walleye in Heaven are 10lbs+ so you'll need to pick up the pace to keep up with your dad from now on. WM
Old plug Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 There is not much you can really do about the passing of people. This might seem strange. Be happy your father did not have to go through a lot of suffering and sitting there waiting for it to come. I have seen friends go through some real nasty periods before they died. My father was 47 when he died. I was a young sailor at the time off the coast of Lebanon playing some dangerous games with the Russians. By the time I got home he was buried. You know I am thankful I never seen him in the casket. I know I would remember that the rest of my days. Phil. Dying young is not so bad but living to long can sure be. I am getting closer every year to that point. One of my old fishing friends currently has terminal cancer. He has refused all treatment and has between 4 and 6 months left. That is what I will do myself.
Sac River Jim Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 May I offer my condolences for your loss. I'm glad you have some great memories of your father on the water. My dad was my best fishing partner and i lost him 12 years ago to a stroke. I still pack a can of beenie weinies in my lunch bucket when I hit the water because it was a ritual for us. He loved a salami and onion samick and a can of beenie weinies when we were tearing the white bass up in the spring.
lmt out Posted May 8, 2014 Author Posted May 8, 2014 Gonna have to try the salami and onion samich. Smoked oysters was my dad and my wifes thing. Still can't stand them though. My father also died of a stroke while being operated on. I will have a salami and onion samich and a can of beenie wienies in honor of your father next trip.
