Sure there is. Lots of states that restrict what gun you can own.

Ok. Name one state that does not allow you to own a firearm. Not restrict. That's not what you originally said.

New York does not allow me to own my AR 15. It is not a restriction, if I live there, I could not own it. And many other places will not allow me to own several of my other guns. What part of your little simple mind does that not get thru too? You are a troll.

Yes, you can own an AR15 in New York State. Yes it requires some modifications such as no compensator, no pistol grip, no folding stock, etc... But you can own a semi automatic AR type of weapon. I am not trolling and I normally don't agree with Chiefs post but to my knowledge there is not a state in the US that forbids you from owning a semi automatic weapon. yes some states might require modifications to be legal but legal they are... the SAFE act was based more on aesthetics than function.

I do not think there is a state Chief that are has banned semi automatic weapons. I do not think it would be possible you would be cutting the legs off the recreational hunters. Are you sure your not getting magazine capacities and that sort of thing in there.

If you read, he said own A fiream, not an AR15. You can own the AR15, as mentioned above, but it must be in sporting configuration. Perhaps your anger clouded your vision, or you didn't read the above post or the laws which you have butchered. Have a nice day.

No trolling here.

J D said he couldn't own HIS AR in New York city. he could if it were chopped up, but it wouldn't be the one he owns now. You can't own a handgun in NYC and that's in New York state. So clearly if you live there, it isn't just automatics that you can't have.

And Drew, don't put a M4 in a nut like Crockers hands to try and make a point. He had a pistol, no AR, no AK, no RPG, just a 9mill.

You don't understand either do you? I asked why "Crocker", using his name as a synonym for wack job lunatic needed access to one. Read the post again and you'll understand what I said. Regardless of what that other futz thinks I said, I never once put one in his hands.

I don't know drew, he was obviously a wacko, but he was no spring chicken and didn't have a record. So why did he need any gun, M4 or otherwise. he obviously didn't need more firepower did he?

The common denominator in virtually every murder is either greed or mental and the massacres are all mental. So what's the use of stiffening gun control if they can't identify real threats?

JD slipped and said state, which I could argue if you can't have a gun in any part of a state then it qualifies as the same difference. You and Chief just jump because you don't like his politics, but I suspect you two would squeal pretty loud if you were told you couldn't own a gun. Should I be afraid if you own a semi automatic?

At the risk of being scolded, can someone explain to me why any hunter or citizen for that matter, would need a gun/rifle capable of holding 30 rounds that can be discharged with the single pull of a trigger, one bullet after another, as fast as you can pull the trigger.

IMO that is the issue - do we allow these types of weapons or not?

Don't go all Charleton Heston on me. I am all for the rights of citizens to bar arms.
