What's a smallmouth of a lifetime weigh?

Had one 6lb 1oz smallie on Stockton a few years back. Does that qualify?

OTF is obviously a troll and has a heck of a hook up ratio, including me, several times.

I was telling a fishing story from a beautiful place that I remember pretty fondly from a few years back. Nothing more, and anything beyond that is created within your own mind. Anyone on here who's ever read my posts knows I am almost a pure C&R fisherman in terms of smallmouth. This was a weird, almost uncomfortable situation, and one that just happened to produce the largest smallmouth I've caught to date. Releasing the fish, given the situation, would have been unethical.

Black bass were not supposed to be in the system, had been illegally introduced, and were crowding out a rare strain of native brook trout with deletorious effects on the population. Pointing out that I kept several bass (including the fish in question) isn't trolling.

If you're bringing something from another thread over here, then just don't.

So then I should go to Crane creek and kill every trout I see? I mean it would be the "ethical" thing to do.

Stupid reasoning.

From my point of view....the smallmouth are a nuisance species and crowd out my walleye streams. I catch 10 dink smallies for every 1 nice walleye...maybe we should manage for them?? (please remove all smallmouth up to your daily limit on the meremac/black/and st francis rivers...LOL!! bet that wouldnt go over too well)...but seeing as walleye are just an "eating" fish nobody gives a s*** if they get wiped out. FlySmallie.....dont people do that anyway with the stocker trout? Ive seen alot more trout being cut up than smallmouth....invasive is invasive. Nobody wants more spotted bass in any of the streams around here right?

Whatever. I'm done here.

Oh don't get your panties in a wad. I'm just having a little fun.

Just get tired of the whole native vs. invasive BS. If those fish spawned in that river then it's native to them.

But I have no problem with you or anyone else keeping a legal fish for a meal. I've done it before and I will do it again.

They are only native if they got there on their own. If they are transplanted by man they will never be native.

Let's kill everything that doesn't belong. When do we start with the trout?

I was simply making the distinction between natural expansion and man induced transplantation. Nothing more, nothing less.
