Seeing rumbles on the internet that Viney Creek is being opened. The State of Missouri is taking it over for the season. Lord, I hope it's true!

I saw a couple of white pick-ups over by the Viney launch this morning, I was wondering what they were up to. It would be cool to see the state take it over.

Snake, if they have to charge to help defray the cost of keeping it open, I'm not fussing. We need that ramp open. If it goes to state just like Longcreek went private I'm guessing there will be a charge. I bet the state however will let you buy a multi-day use pass or yearly.

At any rate, I'm "Pickled Tink/"

Seems the state could defray their cost by charging day-use fees to everyone but those who already hold an annual pass. Pretty sure the majority of users (other than the hardcore anglers like us) don't bother buying an annual pass.

I understand the argument about not wanting to pay but I think I would side with Bill. What is $35 bucks a year for an annual pass or $4 bucks a day for visitors in the grand scheme of things? Not a big deal and if that money is appropriated correctly (probably won't be since it's the government but that's another whole ball of wax and we won't go there) or used for maintenance and upkeep of the parks and ramps then I see that as money well spent. Sometimes you just gotta pay to play....this is one of those times.

Not saying I mind paying, just saying I've already paid with my $30 annual pass that I buy religiously every year. Of course, that money doesn't help the state since it goes to the Corps of Engineers.

Ya I wasn't speaking for those who have already purchased the annual COE pass. I was just saying going forward $30 year is a small fee to keep parks open, clean and well maintained is a good idea. Charging $4 per launch for visitors is a good in my estimation to help pay for things that need fixing. But I see what you are saying that both the State and COE is getting you from both ends.
