Vacation 6/1 Fishing?

You guys probably hate these posts, but here it goes. My girlfriends family invitied me to spend a few days in the Branson area and of course I wanted to go, unfortunately I don't have a boat. We are staying at still water..If I could sneak away for a few hours or maybe a whole day, would it be worth venturing around TR or should I try somewhere else in the area? I'd love to catch a smallie or two or maybe get my girlfriends grandpa in to some panfish action. Thanks in advance.

The best thing you could do is line up a guide to take you out! Bill Babler and Pete Wenners are 2 I have fished with before and both were great!! I am sure there are other really good guides as well but those 2 are the only ones I have personal experience with.

Still waters has kayaks and paddle boats. Trust me you can fish there Cove and catch smallies, blacks and spots. No need to venture unless you just want too.

A guide would be great, but fish the cove around by Indian Point Marina in one of their kayaks and you'll catch plenty of everything. Start with a grub on the gravel point and work your way back with a senko around the docks and the bushes/ledges. That's a great cove and always has fish. Plenty of room to bank fish that cove too if you're stuck without a boat.

Just watch out for the guy in the big Phoenix. He's been known to cut people off and worse. But if you manage to make friends with him, he might let you hang around close enough to his boat to catch some of the fish that are drawn to his Hydrowave.

Awesome, thanks for the input guys! I would love to get a guide for a day but I don't think I have the funds for that on this trip. I've got plenty of senkos, gopher jigs and other random plastics. I'm excited to get down there and hopefully dry off a couple fish.

Got out today and caught 1 smallie about 14" and multiple spotted bass. Biggest was about 16". Also caught my first orange spotted sunfish. Two new species in one day. Excited to get out there in the morning and try some topwaters!
