Well I have been 193 in my vette so I am kind of a speed junkie. 😂
-
Lake was fine like you guys said it would be. Fishing was kind of slow for us. Fished gravel and areas we used to catch them when we came down every year. Ned was our best bait. Was first time out with the new boat so that was fun. I did get it up to 83mph a couple times with 4 of us in the boat with one guy being 250ish pounds. There was definitely more speed to be had but want to get more familiar with the boat before really pushing it. As always we really enjoyed our time down.
-
Hey James! Hope you and Donna are doing well?! Thanks for the info on the lake. The boat was the basscat demo boat so Rick did drive it some I assume.
-
Back on topic LOL; what are we looking at for lake conditions?
-
Wife and I will be heading down for a few days the end of this week. Saw there were storms down your way (hopefully everyone is ok!!) and was curious what the lake will be like (floating debris, water color, etc.) especially around the Kimberling City area? If anyone sees a red/black basscat jaguar stop and say hi.
-
That would be an idea but wife really likes staying Kimberling City. plus we really like chasing smallmouth mostly.
-
We have been on Bull a couple times and really like the lake. Our problem is wife has to schedule vacations way in advance and trying to out guess when Bull won’t be hugely flooded is tough. The one time we tried it flooded so bad while we were there we had no idea where to try and launch and headed home early.

I was talked into fishing a couple of the spring big bass tournaments and we have been there on vacation during a few of the tyson tournaments. The boat traffic was horrendous compared to when those are not going on.
-
Next time before the wife schedules her vacation I will definitely be checking the regatta permits first. Every spring we always hit when the chicken plucker(Tyson) tournament was going on for part of our trip. Honestly not sure which is worse the big bass deal or the chicken plucker. I guess at least I never saw big bass deal people knifing bass in the campground like I did a few of the chicken plucker people. 🤮 We are honestly disappointed as we do truly love the lake and area down there!!

Well darn it anyhow. After us coming down in the spring for a lot of years we got tired of fighting all the big tournaments and traffic and have went north to SD for last couple years. We missed being down on Table Rock so we planned on coming down for a few days the end of this week. Then we saw the big bass tournament was this weekend and another tournament permitted for 80 boats out of where we were planning to launch and some other smaller tournaments. Wife can’t change her time off so the option of coming a different weekend doesn’t work. Sooooo we canceled our house we were going to rent, got our Dixie Stampede tickets refunded and are now heading back up North. 😔 Maybe one of these days we can plan another trip when the lake isn’t over ran with big tournaments. We really love the area but don’t like having to ‘take a number’ for fishing spots. We also used to buy fish flour from Flat Creek restaurant and have ran out and was going to buy some more. They don’t actually have containers for sale but we always talked to a manager and they would bag up a few pounds and sell it to us. If anyone is willing to buy some of their flour and ship it to us shoot me a message.

Saw this article about smallmouth/spotted bass hybrids changing regulations. Here is a link to the article https://newschannel9.com/sports/outdoors/twra-proposes-dramatic-change-in-smallmouth-bass-limits-in-tennessee-fishing-fishermen-anglers?fbclid=IwY2xjawIDSmFleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHVaj7XqGYxXI_Eu15xR0DDAKTNU-NCp5rfvZ2HzDsCGCLaWv2lY1pu5FOA_aem_hJk6xj5F5iHqy3VR3JJGFw

Why did Bill leave the site? Since we are not coming down this year I have not been checking in as often and missed what happened. Just went to his page and it says last visit is just now. 🤷♂️

Phillip Stone and Pete Wenners are probably in the running I would think.

Just wanted to say Merry Christmas to everyone!! Hope you all had a great one!!

RIP. Too many people passing away lately.

So in the pdf all the yellow highlighted stuff is legal to fish? I know there is a gas dock and restaurant in the yellow highlighted area on the left side in the first pic.
-
The docks I saw being fished were in the first picture of the pdf. It was the docks on left side of the picture and they were fishing a little over half of the way back to all the way back. All those docks have the big red commercial no fishing signs. Are those legal to fish?
-
I stand corrected I guess. I thought those docks with the big red sings saying commercial no fishing actually meant you couldn’t fish. Hmmmm Bill: can you point me to the regulations saying we can actually fish them?
-
Question about the derby if you don’t mind. Were the commercial docks with the red no fishing signs off limits for the high school tournament? If so it is amazing how many adults are teaching the kids it is perfectly ok to cheat in a tournament! I personally saw numerous high school boats fishing the commercial docks at Kimberling City. Saw 2 cast into the slips with the boat sitting directly in front of the sign. Bad part is I actually only looked when letting dogs out of the camper or unloading/loading the boat; so who knows how many others I didn’t see. Now wether I agree with those docks being off limits is a whole other thread in itself.

Tried to send a PM but it says you can't receive messages for some reason. Anyway; Wife and I will be in Kimberling City starting this Friday until the morning of the 11th. Do you still want me to bring my Dek-it mount along for you? If so send me a message with your number and I will get ahold of you to figure out when/where to get it to you. Dave
-
I am just fine with it being known you are the one at fault. LOL
-
Have you ever seen it not storm while we are there? Yeah funny to since you actually like fishing in the dang rain. LOL
-
The part in bold is because the wife and I will be coming down end of next week. Seems to always storm while we are there.
-
If it somehow ends up being last weekend of April or first weekend in May; the wife and I will be there and would love to fish it.
