Gavin Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 An extra pad lock, or a pad lock and cable. Will take care of that behavior. Toss the key.
Dirtracer35 Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I think that guy follows people around on the lake as well. So many people don't even know how to figure fish out on their own. It's sad. Takes all the work and fun out of it.
fishinwrench Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I don't help matters at the ramp by my place, so if they've been HERE first then they probably assume that is acceptable ramp behavior. Unless there are fishing guys waiting to launch I just wheel up to the ramp and take my sweet time. If they are leisure boaters and it upsets them then I guess they need lessons on being more LEISURABLE. But then again, taking my sweet time launching/or loading my fishing boat still only amounts to about 38 seconds. Most of them take longer than that just to remove ONE transom tiedown, and take twice that much time to argue with their wife about where the keys are.
Members Ranger Dave Posted May 28, 2014 Members Posted May 28, 2014 It is just common sense that you don't park on the ramp next to the pay box or anywhere on the ramp. No one in his right mind would think this is an acceptable place to park at any time. There is parking on boat sides of the ramp that will hold at least 60 or more trailers and that is where everyone else parked. I don't think the problem is a lack of training as Wayne suggested. People who do these things are un-trainable. They already know the rules they just don't think the rules apply to them. They feel entitled to park any where they want. Letting the air out of their tires doesn't help anything, it just brings you down to their level. I agree we can't let someone else's in-appropriate behavior run our day to the lake. However, I do feel like something should be done. I suggest calling the Corp and let them deal with it. I don't know if they would issue a fine but at the minimum they would talk to them or leave them a note. Perhaps someone will read this post and recognize the truck and trailer and let the owner know about his in-appropriate actions.
Members CrappieCole Posted May 28, 2014 Members Posted May 28, 2014 I think I woulda "accidentally" rand the side of my trailer along side his truck when pullin back out of the water
REDSOXWSCHAMP Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 I think I woulda "accidentally" rand the side of my trailer along side his truck when pullin back out of the water just something to let the guy know that is not the place to park, and regular users of said ramp will not stand for it.
zarraspook Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 A call to the CORPS office and the Sheriff to report an abandoned vehicle !!! Might of help with the driver/owner's education ???? "Look up OPTIMIST in the dictionary - there is a picture of a fishing boat being launched"
dprice Posted May 29, 2014 Author Posted May 29, 2014 I checked it out today. No truck sitting there this time. But although I have a paid access permit to all missouri lakes .... Unless i camp there and pay them additional monies i can not use the ramp at all! Not to mention have the courtesy parking privileges ! I have used this access for say 14 years ? Any lake I go to seem to have beaches ,docks, camp grounds and. Access ramps ? The corp seems to have life jackets there for people's safety . But this is only for people allowed into the park I am told ? Dprice Dprice priceheatingair.comĀ
