There's a big cliff off Jaques Island you should try jigging/trolling. If your not familiar with the area, stop by Indian Point Marina and ask one of the guys behind the counter.

No one gripes about obese fish.

Thanks! How are they fishing for them in the white? Any local restaurants you would recommend? I would actually love for my kids to hook into a 3 or 4 lb. bronze back. Love the fight!

I would love for me to catch a 3 or 4 pound smallmouth. Got a feeling a fish is a fish is a fish for the kids. Fish small fish gravel and fish early. by early your day should be ending around 0900. After that it is starting to turn into work. Fair to slim chance of catching a walleye on the gravel across from the Indians at Combs Ferry. Put a night crawler on a dropshot rig and start dragging it out the long gravel points from 15' to 30' That will be your very best chance.

Buster is not a traditional walleye guide but his means work fantastic on Bull Shoals. It would not however be for the kids. This would be something for you. He is not a bait fisherman, and lots of precision casting is involved. I know he caught some last week on a very unconventional method and continues to catch one or two every trip. He is primarily bass fishing down there now and the eye's are a bonus. Give him a call and he can fill you in 417-335-0357

Good Luck

Again, thanks for all the advice. I am sure we will have a great time.

Bill, you are correct in saying a fish is a fish for the kids. Heck, most of the time, that's good enough for me as well.

As far as trolling the gravel flats, do you know what depth they have been trolling and what particular lures (and color) they have been using? I will try to call Buster as well!

I can't wait to try out some of these restaurants!

Two breakfast recommendations: Ma's place down in Kimberling City and Billy Gail's right there on Indian Point Road. Ma's place is definitely worth the drive, I LOVE the blueberry pancakes and blueberries are in season right now. If you like Cajun food, the Crazy Cajun also down on Indian Point Road is very good. Get the catfish with crayfish etoufee' on it. For BBQ, I also recommend Dana's. It's south of Branson West on old highway 13.

For Bull Shoals walleye with a family, contact Mike Worley, also a supporter of this forum.

Walleye grow well in this lake, but require some specialized knowledge. Bill Babler's recommendation is excellent for this time of year.

The area I fish is roughly 60 lake mile upstream from Indian Point. I would come down and pick you up but it would take me 2 hours to get there and longer to get back up here. Next year, make a point to visit Eureka Springs and stay over. Take the ghost tour at the Crescent Hotel, enjoy the spa, visit all the arts and crafts shops, and let me know you are coming. I can show you some things.

5th on Dana's

If you are set on meeting Walter,,, Bull would be the lake to hit or driving up to the white river area. Mike Worley would be my first choice for Bull and the walleye. if you want Bass on TR Bill Babler is said to find a fish now and then :) If you have time don't overlook taney for the trout. So much water so many fish so little time.

Ditto on the Lake House on Indian Point....and there's a new BBQ shack opened in Notch. Texas style BBQ. Right next door to the shuttered Wooden Nickel.

Boats and trucks come in one color - RED, and peanut butter has to be crunchy.
