Travis Swift Posted June 6, 2014 Author Posted June 6, 2014 Water is starting to clear nicely. We are going to go out this afternoon when they generate more. This has been my toughest trip in 25 years here. Fishing from short creek to cooper creek we usually average 60 to 100 fish most days but this trip has been a struggle to get 15 or 20. Mainly using trout magnets but we have caught a few nice browns on jerkbaits when the water is flowing. Just been a real grind on rainbows and I've never ever had that problem before in this section of the lake. Last weekend I caught 30 off a dock at the landing and this week I can't buy a good bite from the boat. I may have to go down lake by boat??
Seth Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Fishing was really good on sculpin orange and white jigs this morning in the trophy area. We landed around 50 fish. The two biggest were 17.5" and 19" rainbows with fat bellies and lots of color. This evening was much slower with the sun out, but did manage a few more. My aunt and step mom each caught a limit on oower bait just above short creek. I couldnt catch anything on a jig or trout magnet down there.
Travis Swift Posted June 7, 2014 Author Posted June 7, 2014 We went to the trophy area tonight. Hadn't been there in 15 years and we had the most amazing night of our lives trout fishing wise. I caught an 18 and a 19 inch bow which were the biggest I've ever caught. Those fish are so fat and healthy. We caught close to 70 in 3 hrs tonight
Seth Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 I forgot to mention that I seen a big walleye swimming around KOA campground. I dropped my white jig in front of him, buthe didn't pay any attention.
Travis Swift Posted June 7, 2014 Author Posted June 7, 2014 Seth were you up there in a jet boat tonight? There was only one other boat up there besides us tonight and it was a jet boat that went by.
Seth Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Can't miss my rig, it's the orange Lrgend SS. Were you guys still fishing when we ran back down to short creek? I only recall seeing one boat by the narrows and they were teeling in a fish.
Travis Swift Posted June 7, 2014 Author Posted June 7, 2014 That was us buddy and I was reeling in my 2nd biggest of the day. Your boat is awesome that jet engine will get there fast and shallow!!
Seth Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 I am really enjoying the layout of this semiV a lot better compared to the flat bottom i had previously. The recessed trolling motor tray is SO much more comfortable for long days of fishing. I am waiting on pops to finish his coffee and we are going to head back up below the Narrows in a bit.
Travis Swift Posted June 7, 2014 Author Posted June 7, 2014 We will head up this afternoon for our last evening here gotta go pick up some more jigs from Phil first though. I have to idle most of the way up in my bass boat cause I don't know it very well at all up there and man are some parts shallow. Its worth the idle though!
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 7, 2014 Root Admin Posted June 7, 2014 Travis- come down to the dock and say hello. I should be down here all day.
