jolicious Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 I put this in the Beaver forum because I live in Sonora and that's the closest like to me.... Anyhoo, I have only used a frog a couple times, but that was in Florida. A buddy here at home said the best way to practice Froggin' is to find a pond with a little cover and some bass - lots of bites will helpe learn timing. So.... Anyone have a pond full of bass that they wouldn't mind to share with their buddy Joe??
fishinwrench Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Get yourself some Stanley Bull Ribbit's (the big ones) and the "Double Take hook system". Fish that sucker just like a buzzbait, with 20# line and a good stiff rod. Drop your rod when you get a hit and then sweep hard to the side just like a Sluggo/Fluke hookset. Be prepared for that first jump, don't let him shake his head.
Guest Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 the rivers & streams have water willow (aquatic vegetation) that fish love to hang around. A lot of the city lakes have it to: Bob Kidd, Lake Fayetteville, Lake Sequoyah, Elmdale, Siloam city Lake,
Quillback Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Table Rock has jumped over a foot and could rise some more. Good opportunity to fish it over and through buck brush.
Members The Bassman Posted June 7, 2014 Members Posted June 7, 2014 The upper end of Lake Sequoyah is full of grass. Go early or late with a hollow belly (I like the spro) and hold on. Also, don't be afraid to throw it in open water near cover. A lot of strikes will occur there.
jdmidwest Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Little early for froggin, they don't open till June 30 at midnite. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
