ollie Posted June 17, 2014 Author Posted June 17, 2014 YES!! we didn't look impressive at all but we got the job done. Still look weak in D I think. Although we didn't look like we could hold possession or link too many passes together. We are probably doomed I know, but hey I can dream right? "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
Boobie Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Not bashing the U S team but Germany will walk all over them. Different class of soccer players!!!! Jorgen has done the U S team well.
Quillback Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Good to see the win, but it sure seemed like Ghana controlled the game for the most part. Altidore needs to get healthy.
stlfisher Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Gutsy and huge win for the US last night. Ghana was always going to control the possession game for the most part, but there were way to many terrible passes. It happens especially in the first game of a world cup with tons of pressure. Bradley played poorly and Dempsey stated after the game he was having trouble breathing after getting hit in the nose. The loss of Altidore is really going to hurt. We had trouble moving forward without him up top. He may not be a great goal scorer (very streaky), but he is a lot to handle with his back to the goal. Johansson look like a midget and was ineffective in that role. I expect us to be much sharper against Portugal, but it will be a similar type game. We will spend a lot of the time defending. Really we just need a tie in one of the next two (preferably against Portugal) and we should advance. It would be nice to have Landon Donovan on the team now...
mhowerton Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Dodged alot of bullets. Midfielders were shakey and Beasley was suspect also. Glad they responded and got the win. Looking forward to the match Sunday. Maybe Wondo will be a replacement for Altidore.
Quillback Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 Great game today between Mexico and Brazil, Mexican goalie made some unbelievable saves.
ollie Posted June 18, 2014 Author Posted June 18, 2014 I was totally shocked by that score line. Brazil held scoreless? Against a team that barely made it in? This cup has had it's share of surprises I can tell you that! Quillback Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Brazil had their chances, they just couldn't get anything past that goalie.
