Wayne SW/MO Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 You have to PC some things, beans and fish for instance. A lot of tomato products should be because a home gardner seldom knows the acid content of his tomatoes. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Feathers and Fins Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 That is why they have the citric acid additive Wayne. I have not had a issue since I started using it on maters and beans. Fish I definitely agree with you on the need for a cooker. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Wayne SW/MO Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I guess I've heard of too many deaths of botulism from green beans over the decades, I just don't feel comfortable with anything but pressure cooking. Its the same strokes, just a little longer in time. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
MeatintheFreezer Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Couple of questions. Why are my red bell peppers still green? Anyone know of where to get a decent but inexpensive canning pressure cooker? Wife's birthday is Sunday. I bought a Presto 16 quart from wally world a few years back and have had no issues at all with it. It can be used as a pressure cooker or a water bath canner. Seems like it was around $80 if I remember right. Remember - If at first you DO succeed, try not to act surprised & quit while you're ahead.
Wayne SW/MO Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I'm not sure I would like the new ones as well as my old one. The sound of the weight jiggling is like a security blanket. They can be used both ways and if you add a rack, available, there is no difference on the water bath side. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
rainbow Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Good day in the garden. I even made 2 gallons of home brew.
rainbow Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Been loaded up with maters so I bought a sauce maker the other day. Made up about 30 lbs of maters into sauce yesterday. Not one seed or piece of skin in the sauce. Now I need to get the salsa screen for it. The machine worked great.
