Members Mike Ray Posted June 14, 2014 Members Posted June 14, 2014 any suggestions on where to buy new teleflex steering cables? had one snap the other day VERY fortunate not going very fast! boat took very hard right and about threw me out . any way looking for new cables it is dual rack and pinion design. I suggest you lube those cables and wear vest and kill tether! this could have been a real bad deal.
Duck Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Ulrich Marine Center in Branson West will have anything you need and at a fair price. Best in the area. give them a call at 417 272 1841. Good luck, Duck.
fishinwrench Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 You had a dual rack system BREAK? !!! I've seen a thousand sieze up but never had one in that was broke. Your local O'Rielly's can get Teleflex cables, or complete systems "next day" if they don't already have one in stock. They usually have the best prices on them as well.
Members Mike Ray Posted June 15, 2014 Author Members Posted June 15, 2014 yes ,one of them broke it would steer one direction but not correctly . It has always been kinda stiff to steer but especially this spring should have looked into it b- 4 this happened . has no grease zerks but new ones will. can't tell you how lucky I was not to be haulin a** AS USUALLY I AM! when all said and done had about an inch and a half of water on the floor boards ,tackle box flipped over and me pretty shook up . luckily got it shut down . will be wearing tether from now on. trolling motor got me in.... barley. got them out today and was a real pain. THANKS much for info, looks like about 4 bills.
Dutch Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 If you are anywhere near Springfield, the bass pro parts store on Campbell and Sunset may have them.
Members Mike Ray Posted June 16, 2014 Author Members Posted June 16, 2014 Well ,after a closer inspection and a whole can of wd40 . Found a broken plastic keeper that holds casing so it won't travel with the cable after I took apart a piece that is stamped with "do not disassemble". now if I can come up with new keeper or "Rig" one. I'll be back in biz. with out spending 400 bucks. Glad I am "handy"
