kwall Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 As for this WALLEYE fisherman -- I'll be very observant of what people are doing next time I fish --- by the way if one of these mutilated fish are caught what should we do???
Dirtracer35 Posted June 18, 2014 Author Posted June 18, 2014 Photograph it, keep a detailed record of where it was caught. Depth, bank, which point or cove. And report it to MDC fisheries biologist.
Members waterdogMP Posted June 18, 2014 Members Posted June 18, 2014 I avidly fish stockton lake. I love to Bass fish and I'm very passionate about it. With that in mind, I'm also a police officer. If I see anyone doing this on the lake, I will detain you until MDC or Water Patrol can get there to make the arrest.
dprice Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 It will be people like you that turn it around. Dprice Dprice priceheatingair.comĀ
Members johnbuoy Posted June 18, 2014 Members Posted June 18, 2014 I really doubt anybody is going to catch them. Unless someone is going to go around and brag to their buddies. This is deffinitely intentional. It is deffinitely wrong and these guys need to quit. It is just plain ignorant.
Sac River Jim Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 I think some jerk trying to remove a $12.00 crank bait, using a knife or side cutter pliers would be my guess. that thought crossed my mind too. i spread the word to the locals up in Greenfield that fish the lake on a daily basis one of them is a retired boat patrolman that lives up at hawker point they are gonna be on the lookout too.
waterpossum Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Could this be a seration problem caused by line (i.e.) braided line. Just a thought, but I have seen this in years past, but very rarely.
Dirtracer35 Posted June 18, 2014 Author Posted June 18, 2014 Got a call back from the biologist today. We talked about this for almost 20 minutes. He assured me that it is definitely not a what thing. But a who. WP and MDC will be watching and cruising the lake this weekend in the areas fish have been caught. There will be no shocking the water for the lack of effectiveness at depth. They ask that anybody who catches a fish that has damage like the one shown and mentioned. Please photograph and email or call: Fisheries Management Biologist Adam Boman Southwest Regional Office 2630 N. Mayfair Springfield, MO, 65803 417-895-6880 adam.boman@mdc.mo.gov Even got some information on where big females had been shocked and where the next possible record smallie might be haha.
