dtrs5kprs Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 That sounds like a hoot but you better not have shot my pet coon at Schooner. He's been hanging around there for years. Likes to go out on the dock and see what he can pilfer out of people's boats. No coons were harmed, but the Saint Looie types were a bit antsy. City people. Actually...this was the first year I have ever stayed at Schooner and not seen a single raccoon. Not by the rooms. Not on the dock. I've had that big booger get between me and my boat after launching a few times, but not this year. Maybe more guests are finally learning how to properly deal with their trash.
Champ188 Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 LOL, maybe he moved on to another resort or went to that big den tree in the sky. Years ago, my friend Lupe left his Skeeter in a slip overnight (and I was in the slip next to him. We weren't smart enough to know better back then.) Anyhoo, when he came out the next morning, that coon had somehow opened his right-side rod box, extracted a sizable bag of Halloween candy and ate the whole darn thing. Didn't break/mess up a thing other than leaving the empty bag and a bunch of candy wrappers in the boat.

Walked out at 4am one morning and found him up on my front deck. That was the year I stopped leaving any used plastics on the deck, and started emptying anything not in a can or bottle from the boat cooler. Can't exactly throw a rock at him when he is in your boat. Probably would have just thrown it back anyway. Is Lupe still fishing? Have not seen him down there lately.
Champ188 Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Dave, I haven't seen him in a while but yes, he's fishing a lot of tournaments. See his name in a bunch of stuff. I did see him in a Beaver derby a few weeks back but it was mid-day and didn't have time to stop and chat. He's a good fellow.
Bill Babler Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Lupe Garcia is a very good fisherman. He is a fence swinger. He is either top ten or nothing. Used to love to fish against him. He can get on a roll and really catch them. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Champ188 Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Yes he is, Bill. Very good with a Spook and a jig.
Ellros Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 this will be my 2nd year to go to shore acres. we like it. pretty flat, nice pool, playground, dock. also have adjoining cabins. don't know if thats the are your looking for though, don't know the lake that well. http://shoreacres.us/ Absolutely loved Shore Acres. That's the resort we stayed at every trip down to Table Rock for many years.. Parent's got to know the folks who owned it way back then, and those folks ended up helping my parents get a cabin on the lake. Now the parents have a house on the lake and are enjoying their retirement.
Members cbass12 Posted July 1, 2014 Members Posted July 1, 2014 Mill Creek Resort is where we stay. They have their own ramp and the cabins/cottages are very nice, pretty affordable as well. The resort itself sits on a pretty good hill so walking up and down gets tiring but we got used to it. We just got back from a week long trip on saturday. They have a pool and a playground for the kids. Its in a cove and while the cove isn't completely no wake, it's almost all the way in the back so the boat traffic is minimal.
